Well I'm happy with my XC60, there are a few things that I don't like
e.g. Parking Brake.. But no car is totally perfect, Yesterday she had a birthday 111,111miles, and still drives like a teenager. Went to the Isle of Wight a few weeks ago and with 4 up and the boot FULL had 42mpg when we arrived. I miss having a USB socket for music, but have to put CD's in the car or use my phone, and I must say the audio quality is very very good. Gazza

Very happy with mine.
Great seats, very comfortable even on 2 to 4 hour trips. Easy drive on the motorway, and not bad in town. Gets over 50MPG and running sweet having just done 61K. |

Like XC 60 but one slight issue
Having owned an XC90 for nearly 9 years I bought A new XC60R in May 2015.
Only criticism I have is over a recent punture I suffered one evening. I used the tyre repair kit and compressure to re inflate the tyre, worked fine. Once tyre was inflated I drove a couple of miles and took the next exit off and parked up. I contacted Volvo assist to find out if there was anybody local who could check my tyre out as I still had 200 miles to go. To cut a long story short there was not, so a recovery truck was sent to us. When the truck arrived I was asked for the front towing bolt so the car could be winched on to the recovery vehicle, I could not find it. The recovery guy could not find it in the boot either so he had to drive the car onboard. The next day I contacted my Volvo dealership about the missing part who were able to help me to my embarrassment, the part was there but if you just look in the boot you you cannot see it. It is located in the polystyrene insert but at the very back hidden by the body work almost under the rear bumper. In daylight it took some finding at night time despite 2 of us checking using a torch neither of us could find it yet there is plenty of room to position it in an easier place to locate within the polystyrene insert. I would suggest if you are reading this post you should go and check where your is just in case you ever need it. |

The other point about the necessity of having a spare tyre is the risk you have a major blowout in an area with no mobile phone signal. If you only have a can of sealant and this does not work, you can't even call the breakdown services. At least the XC60 has room for a space saver. I understand the new MB GLC doesn't even have this option !

Why I still like my XC60, and still get irritated by it
That moaner is back.
My XC60 remains the quietest car I've ever had, and one of the smoothest. It gets compliments from everyone I've taken in it or let drive it. I do still wonder at the designers, and their choices of what to put in, what to not bother about. If it were a £25,000 car, I'd just accept it, but it isn't. I was out in the rain today, and when I tried reversing, the spray had covered over the lens of the reversing camera so it was nearly useless. Also, when driving, the rear windscreen gets soaked and on mucky roads, covered in dirt. I'm using the rear wash/wipe far more than I ever have. It actually gets wetter driving than standing still, as the deflector partially shades it. I have been used to the rear windscreen being blown clean above 20mph - on my last 6 cars at least. And those were not all Skodas. I am surprised that these issues are not designed out in the wind tunnels. My wife's Polo has the same problem with the rear windscreen getting wet and dirty. The width is a problem in some car parks - the bays are not designed for this width of car. Mind you, some drivers cannot fit their small cars in just one bay either. And I noticed at Halfords the other day, some of the bays are a good foot narrower than others! A fellow shopper saw me pacing out the width, and asked what on earth I was doing. He then realised why sometimes he was able to park there easily and other times he found it awkward to fit between two existing parked cars. My first true dent is now in the nearside rear wheel arch from a careless door opener in a car park. Worse, that was on a day when my dashcam was on the blink. It corrupts the SD card whenever the car is switched on and then off fairly quickly - such as putting it away in the garage after having washed it. Hopefully the new firmware update installed last week will fix that at least. I've still not got used to the electric parking brake. I still try to pull to put it on and push to release it. 44 years of pulling a handbrake on to overcome! MPG has now dropped, so getting further away from the official figure. KESSY is nearly perfect. I now object to having to take my keys out to open my house door! The ease of walking up to a car and being able to just open the door or boot is sublime. And it only works from next to the door being opened, so there is no risk of someone getting in while I am still 10 yards away. And wonderful keyless drive - just foot on brake, press the starter, push the handbrake, curse, pull the handbrake, I'm off. Leaving the car, just stop, keep foot on brake, put in park, press the starter to shut it down, PRESS the handbrake, get out, lock everything by pressing the rubber button on the handle, walk away with key still in pocket. The salesman seriously undersold it, telling me he didn't think it was worth the money, which I found was because he did not know fully what it did. The only thing missing is a "lock" button on the boot. One great thing is the side windows - I got the package with them laminated and rain repelling. It works. Above 20mph THEY blow clean beautifully. And the wheels clean up quite easily. They do get mucky quickly with brake dust, but it washes off easily. |

Whilst I agree that the electronic handbrake isnt the most intuitive bit of kit, you dont need to remember how to let it off - just drive away. So long as you have your seat belt on, it will release itself - even easier!!
Granted, if you are moving your car back into the garage or the like you may not have your belt on, but otherwise it works fine |
