Here is the lovely sound of a 5 pot. The sound is very similar to mine on acceleration but mine doesn't make any sound on the overrun. I assume because the Audi TT RS is petrol and my XC60 is diesel.

I like Volvo because it's easy to work on them. Something close to the Japanese design. With a major difference: Volvo used up to 2010 high quality hardware, while the Japanese bolts are all stuck and rusted.
My problem - and it's really specific to my size - is the front leg room is not enough for me in Volvo. I would never touch a Bmw or Audi, just to think the 'pile up' design Germans make their cars makes me stay away in terms of repairing perspective.

I might buy another Volvo. I had Vauxhalls in my early years when they actually made decent cars like the Nova and the Cavalier being the last good car they made. Also had an E36 BMW 3 Series that coped well with the mileage, 164000 on it when i sold it and no problems. My 1st Volvo was a 1999 S40 T4 with 100k on it but to me it wasn't a proper Volvo rather a Mitsubishi badged one. I then started an allegiance to Volkswagen Audi owning all of them except Seat in fact I still have a 1991 Jetta GTI somewhere. I currently have a 1980 244 DL and a 2014 V40 D2 R Design as my daily driver. The V40 is on PCP through my local dealer and is due for replacement sometime 2017-2018 and it only does 8k a year but here is were the problem lies with Volvos sales strategy for me anyway. When I was buying the V40 the only competitive deals at the time were Motability on the Cross Country Lux and the PCP on the V40 R Design hence my choice. About the 2 year mark into my deal Volvo announced the cheap lease deals on the V40 R Design lasting 2 years therefore my PCP deal no longer represents the value it did previously as the market will now be flooded with 2 year old V40 R Designs just about the time that my then 4 year old car is due to be changed and I'm guessing that will affect my negotiations for a new Volvo model. PS The lease deal was a good bit cheaper than my PCP payments I had planned to be brand loyal as I had been when buying VAG cars previously but if it pans out the way I think it will then Volvo will have burnt their bridges with me and i will be looking at either a different brand or back to buying used cars again. So it'll really depend on what I can be offered by the dealers to get me into another new Volvo or my V40 against a Select Used |

I do very much like my XC60, there are certain things that I miss from my last Peugeot's, like speed limiter, head up display, some of you probably think a bit of a gimmick, so did I until you realise what you can see in the display without taking your eyes off the road .
I also think for the cost of a Volvo there is a lot of cost cutting. Why only one powered seat for example, deleting rear power socket I think is especially mean. I really do like my XC60 but I can't rule out going back to Peugeot, I really like the look of the new 3008. I'm also keen to see the new XC60, so who knows, I won't be looking until this time next year, I try to keep my cars within warranty.

I seem to pick Volvos when I want a car to do a job and other brands when I want to buy an image.... |

Although I did not vote, I would have been one of those "not on your Nellie" brigade.
I will be PXing my third Volvo (first was N Reg 460, second was 09 XC90, current is 63 XC70). My current car has been unreliable (new alternator after it expired completely, and new auto box). The final straw was how I was treated both at dealer and importer level when I discovered a problem with the paintwork, that should have been dealt with under warranty (at a cost of c£700). As a result, I am moving imminently to a rival marque, and also avoiding the dealership brand. Obviously, keeping the customer happy is no longer felt to be worth the effort by VCUK and the local dealer chain. I am excited about my new purchase, in the hope that the marque is a bit more reputable than VCUK. |
