My dream car, considering also my family requirements, is a Volvo Amazon P210 station wagon from 1969. Substantially reinforced passenger compartment to ensure it doesn't get smashed into nothingness in case of a head on collision. Won't be nearly as safe as a modern car, but and undamaged compartment at least gives one a fighting chance of survival. M41gearbox with overdrive. Latest edition of the B20E engine (from 144GL) fully blueprinted, mild cam, low compression and fitted with low-pressure roller bearing turbo. High quality shock absorbers that combine comfort and handling. Naturally totally renovated.
So why do I go ahead an buy an S40, then? Because I don't have a place to build such an Amazon, nor time, nor energy. And, most importantly, my wife hate the idea. Yes, I'm henpecked |
