Misfire solved with new plugs and HT leads! Thanks again to everyone for their help and suggestions. It's reassuring to know that there are people out there prepared to spend their precious time helping others.

Side issue, the temporary fix of the top radiator hose plastic breaking off did not work and on my (short) test drive I dumped most of the coolant over the engine bay and road!
It's a new rad (Nissens) for me and ancillary bits and bobs.

I'll share a photo in case anyone is interested.
