Mine's a 2004 S60 D5. All of the gauges suddenly dropped to zero and "twitched", but everything else on the cluster stayed working. It was just after the auxiliary belt had been replaced so I initially thought it might be related to that, but unlikely.
Battery disconnection helped for a while but they dropped again (did it really help?)
Removed the DIM and checked everything. No evidence of dry joints or damage, but when I refitted, it was all back working again. Maybe a loose connection which was disturbed when I discovered an unexpected cliff across the road just before I noticed the dials had zeroed - maybe.
All working absolutely fine now.
However the RPM dial wasn't reading correctly as I'd removed the pointers, so took it apart again - just that one - and positioned it to match the engine revs from the ODB2 output.
It's now mostly all working, but the speedo indicator twitches occasionally, and then all four gauges drop to zero for a while, then resume.
Does this sound familiar? And is it likely that a DIM rebuilt might help?
Thanks
