I'm very impressed with the dedication of dera...really makes you see the benefits of this forum and those that support it...thank you!?

I'm a dedicated V8 (and no LPG) fan...so not sure of my future with Volvo...although tempted by an XC60 T6 there seems no end of niggles with it not to mention the 5+ hours Sensus Nav SW & Maps upgrade...

Is there much to tune on the V8 engine...I imagine so with the Yammy appearing in Noble cars?

I may consider a XC90 with the 3.2 S6 engine but find it underwhelming in its standard form - again is there naything that may be doen with it to boost both torque and horsepower without too much affect on fuel consumption and engine/gearbox wear?

Sounds like you should buy a VW Touareg with the 4.2 V8 TDI engine. 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, top speed 150mph. 31mpg (combined)

Not much of a guarantee to my mind.

That's a diesel though...so car generally costs more to buy versus same model with petrol engine and although better mpg the cost of diesel is the trade off...I currently have an average of 22mpg with my 2007 MY07 XC90 V8 Exec...and when briefly borrowing a 2008 MY08 BMW X5 4.8 V8 M Sport managed a healthy 25mpg...

Even Audi Q7/Q5 4.2 petrol V8s are good for this sort of mpg...all far better than the RR Sport SC 4.2 V8 and Jeep GC 4.7 HO V8 that I once had - but they were fun to drive...

I receive a heavily discounted (tax free) price when buying fuel - especially petrol where I only pay about half the retail price in the UK...so happy to stay with petrol engined cars...

...and I'm not into the diesel filter cleaning nightmare of having to drive so far at a speed to clean it as during the week I may only travel a few miles on each journey in the car...

Nice thought though thank you...and I did look at the Touareg V10 a year or so back but didn't like the Sat Nav being so low down on the dash that you had to look away from the road when driving...one of they real pluses I'd say for the XC90 Sat Nav set up rising from the top of the dash...

There's only a certain number of fuel stations that take the vouchers we receive...so it's an interesting drive between the UK and Europe calculating distances to try and avoid filling up at a fuel station where the vouchers are no good to use and I'd have to pay the full normal price!

No that's not possible...but shall we say there's quite a few Government/Quasi Government/Military type organisations - many in Belgium but also thickly spread elsewhere over central Europe - who have 'special agreements' in place with the respective host nations, especially where it comes to taxes and duties being reduced or removed.

Lucky GET! That's all I can say.

Wish I could half my fuel bill.
