Kept saying Owner is away and will be back on the 28th. To be fair it didn't say what time on the 28th but it wouldn't allow the transaction to be completed

Just installing mine. Do you need to tap a thread into the hole for the fixing bolt? Mine doesn't seem to be threaded... or perhaps it's just clogged up with dirt? not exactly easy to see into it!

All done
No, you are right. I just sprayed WD40 into the bolt hole and cleaned it out with a fine brush and it went in. All now done. Very happy.
The oil level wasn't even up to the bottom marker, so I added some oil until it was just above the MIN mark and all is now well. The electronic gauge shows 3/4 full.

Dipping oil...how yesterday heathens!
It was a joke btw beyond belief how a temp gauge and something that allows you to also see the condition of the oil regardless of mileage done has been removed. |

I agree, I would like an engine temperature gauge too - though not possible to add that, unfortunately! I'm not a fan of electronic gauges, when a manual "old fashioned" one worked as well and was much less likely to fail!

I've been using my phone just for that, the car scanner application automatically connects to the Bluetooth OBD, and it'll show me coolant, oil, ATF, and DPF temperatures. It'd be pretty cool if this information and more could be displayed on the SatNav screen instead. ALAS I don't have them kind of skills.

Am I missing something my S80 has a temp gauge? I’ve ordered a dipstick kit now also. Hopefully have it fitted this week. The dealer did say it wasn’t listed for the D3 but I can’t see there been much difference to the d5.

I'm monitoring also all those temperature, but guess what, the D5 is boring, everything is always on point. I had some warning in the mountains when it was 45°C outside, with oil temp going up to 120°C, but on the everyday, it's just a clock |
