Default B200E/B230E cruise control

I came across an old p/n while doing some cruise-control research. I'm pretty confident that the part number for the supplementary kit (which should contain the correct throttle pulley, vacuum servo bracket, specific instruction manual, servo cable) for the B200E/B230E is 3501278-0.

I recently bought the supplementary kit (3501277) for my B230K so the p/n looks OK.

The bad news is...I don't think it's available from Volvo anymore, but it might be (I haven't asked). If it is still available you can buy it here, but at the full RRP. Of course, a dealer should be able to verify the part number before buying the part.

Hopefully this info will be of use to somebody.

Good morning Oldblue!

I remember phoning up volvo to see if they still did it. From what I remember, if its a 740 - no chance unless you have one of the more up to date engines in it. The kit is still available for 940's. Thanks for the reminder actually... there should be a kit available for my new car.

Ive got a cruise control kit for a 740 in my garage bought off ebay USA. I was going to have it fitted to my B230E but then found it would only fit a 230K. Its been sat in my garage ever since!

Hi Chris, the kit I mention is the uber-rare 'add-on' kit, which is specific to the 740 (and very early 940) k-jet engines. It isn't the main kit (ECU, servo, pump etc). I bought the add-on kit for my early 740 a couple of months ago from Volvo (because I knew the correct part number).

The 230k intake looks very similar to my 230ft, if you ever fancy parting company with it, I may be interested in it in a few weeks.

So you have a double spooled throttle bit that fits on a Kjet manifold too? I was looking for one of those for a long time, never found one.

I probably can't afford it, but how much do you want for your complete kit, James? (PM if you like)

Chris, I think James' kit is for the B230F/FT automatic. It's definitely not for the B230K (that's the engine in my signature). So, I guess it should fit your car OK? You would just need one extra pedal switch and bracket if you have a manual gearbox.

The kits for the EFI manifolds are pretty common - all "CD" spec 940s had cruise. Watch for them breaking on eBay. You need the throttle spool/bracket and bellows/bracket. The rest can be "borrowed" from elsewhere. The rare ones are for the carb and K-Jet cars. K-Jet is generally sorted by buying from the US, where almost all the cars had cruise and A/C...and not much else!

I found my K-Jet bits the other day Chris...sorry...bad timing! I couldn't remember who wanted them...

cheers

James

I already have the rare bits for my carb'd engine (throttle pulley & servo bracket). I just need the cable harness, both pedal brackets, and one more pedal switch. But, it might be just as easy for me to buy another kit to get the parts I need (costly though).

Pedal switch brackets are peanuts at the dealer...less than a pound each, IIRC. Switches can be found in CD-spec 900s.

The cable harness is the tricky part - 900s with CC were pre-wired for it (960s all seem to be...CD-spec 940s appear to have a different loom). I've got two (in use, sadly)...both came from 700s which had it added as an accessory. There's not a huge amount to it, though. You could make one reasonably easily.

cheers

James

I didn't think the brackets would be so cheap from the dealers. That's good, I'll try to get those then.

For the cable harness, I am seriously considering making one myself, but I would be using standard fast-on/spade crimps where possible and generally botching it together, without the proper connectors. I would probably cut up some old mains 3-core for the wires.

That would just leave the pedal switch.

The question is...will it ever work?
