I just read your car info again you posted , your car has the early trailing arms ( 1962 model ) so will require some hard work to fit ,
I would ask Brian if he can retro fit the complete rear axle and alter it to fit your car ! Kind regards Robert.w

The front is an easy replacement with 122 discs. The rear now has kits available. Easy, remove the drums and bolt as instructed and refit. See Ebay for these kits under classic Volvo parts Ta Kassie |

Kassie, have you fitted the backs by chance? If so any pics and are they an improvement? They look like MX5 callipers but I could be wrong. I think the ebay kits are the ones Huke makes so might be cheaper go direct to him.

Robert, when fitting an 1800E/ES rear axle how do you get round the problem of front and rear PCD being different?

You can fit the E/ES front hubs as one solution.

Or fit proper machined spacers but different PCDs, in this case 105-144.3.
I have 25mm spacers (114.3-114.3) on my car for over 5 years and no issues. Proper hub centric ones with the holding screws counter bored into the spacer. The rear conversion by Huke looks neat and pretty much plug and play. Ive sppken to him and he has kits ready to go. They are as supplied to Nordicar. The issue as 940turbo mentioned in an earlier post is the conversion retain the morse taper hubs. Whats needed is a way to move away from the morse taper. Did the later E/ES axle use morse tapers? Whats the typically going price for a used E/ES axle? Russ |

There are some Dana axles in the US that dont use teh taper so removing the weakest point but the axle still aint all that strong. I would say converting the half shafts is only a consideration for a rally car where teh original axle has to be kept.
