Volvo finally on my driveway! Now some time to clean up as I continue the wait from the DVLA.

To pass MOT she needed just a couple tyres and a fuel filler cap replaced. Not bad!

I have a Colourlock Atacama leather treatment package which will be done the next few days to help the tired leather.

Also ordered some more pads and polishes for a full machine polish.

Thinking I might have the wheels done Anthracite at some point but we'll see. Sadly the garage put some budgets on to get it though (difficult when no reg number!) so not sure to keep them or even put the same on the front to even it out...

Other jobs include retrimming the A-Pillars, the usual rubbers around the windscreen and doing something with the dash to get it in MPH/UK.

Will update with progress as it goes!

In North America - and perhaps elsewhere - the Miata is a cult car exactly for the reason you mention: one of a kind "go cart" car coupled with superior reliability. These cars are almost never junked. Even the first generation ones. I've seen one once in 10 years of visiting the local breakers. And indeed, that gear stick is infamous. Once you used one pretty much anything else was inferior. Honda also made nice gear sticks back then, but perhaps not as good as the Mazda ones. https://youtu.be/zY4uHpWjXBk

So first day off I've actually had chance to do something on the Volvo. First job was the seats! Ordered a dye set from ColourBlock and set to work. Safe to say I'm very happy with the outcome!

A-Pillar trims were also peeling slightly so they've been dropped off to the local retrimmers to either be stuck back down or re-done completely.

I too would love to know. Was it hard to do?

Well done on the colours inside and out, so much more interesting.

Coming on nicely. I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you on the new V70R Japanese import journey, although mine's been in the country for a couple of years.

I've been using the Colourlock kit as well, but have had slightly more fun getting a colour match. I'm half way through dying the Nordkapp Leather for a a second time. Great kit though, and yours look great.

I got my DIM translated by Lukasz at Volvo Diagnostics. Fabulous service. I posted the cluster to them on a Thursday afternoon and it was back in the car on Saturday morning. £80 +p&p.

I think I'm leaving the speedo in KM, unless I stumble on a UK donor cluster. I'm slowly getting used to it.

My A-Pillars are in a similar state, so will try re-gluing.

I replaced the original headunit with a double-din Sony headunit. Whilst I was at it, removed all the aftermarket Japanese wiring for the satnav, screen in the dashboard, and the toll-card system, which I think I can see you have in one of the pictures. Mine had 4 windscreen aerials on it, so it's cleaned it up nicely.

One thing you might want to check, because I'm glad I found it, is flip back the seal at the top of each of the door windows. Three of mine are fine, but the rear onside one has a couple of spots of rust that will need sorting.
