I guess the life of a tyre is tedious and boring, but I have never heard of them turning to alcohol to cope before.....

I have currently Michelin primary 4. Should i replace them with exactly the same or you have better tyre to recommend. Ii prefer good fuel efficiency wet condition a or b and quiet ones, also only premium tyres. If you can advise me please. Size 255/40 r19

One problem with buying two sets of wheels is selling a set on when you change vehicles. OK I'm a bit extreme but I have two sets of Evoque wheels in the garage - hoping to sell them on when winter comes around. There doesn't seem to be as much of a market for Volvo wheels though.

My XC60 has Nokian Weatherproof tyres, that name has been revised over the years. These are Finnish tyres designed for wet conditions, and of course snow. They have the snowflake markings so can be used in Europe during winter .

The car spent 3 months in Spain and I expected the heat would of eaten them up fairly quickly, wrong , drove nearly 6500 miles during our stay and they performed very well. Our house was on the side of a very steep hill along a not so good track.

Winter performance is excellent as you would expect. Price wise I think they come in very competively.

I am running what might be best called "knock off" Cross Climates.

They're called IMPERIAL ALL SEASON DRIVER and cost £411 for a set of 5 (I have a full sized spare) for my V60.

Staggeringly, they work. The grip in snow has been excellent and they've still got a uniform 4mm on them after 46000 miles on the car. This is compared to 31000 for the original Pirellis and 27000 for the can't-remember-what I had on it after that.

I assume the comment up there about drinking more is the consumption. I've noticed the consumption worsened by around 2 mpg as soon as they were fitted.
