What would be interesting is to see all the fuel consumption figures at this stage and not just the combined that is quoted at the moment. Obviously they have done some adjustments on the D5 engine to get 10 more PS and slightly better mpg even for the Geartronic but I am guessing the big improvement on the mpg for the manual is mainly due to the new start/stop feature so I expect the urban and combined figures to be much better on cars equipped with the manual box but the difference between the two on the extra-urban cycle should remain more or less the same as before.

So if you spend your life in traffic-jams I guess you should save significantly on your fuel bill by driving the manual but then again really you’ll probably wish you didn’t have to change these bloody gears manually each time you are moving a few yards or if you are like me living somewhere where traffic lights/jams are virtually unknown then I expect the start/stop feature will not make a big difference at the fuel pump overall so I think I’ll stick with the Geartronic.

Should have made it more obvious that this is for motability orders only.
It is a pity you can't order before the 1st of April because it looks like you are going to miss out on the 3 years for £300 service offer that finishes on the 31st of March

With Motability it includes free servicing, free tyres, free insurance, free AA, free windscreen cover........... well not exactly free but it's all covered by the weekly allowance. :-)
