just to sidetrack here for a minute and to see if anyone can confirm this to be true or untrue...

I actually read this on an audi a3 forum as they appear to also have a problem with the wiper motor blowing when HID kits are fitted.

"the problem of blowing the wiper motor only actually happens if the headlights are turned on while the wipers are already running"

kind of makes sense given that the wiper motor blows because of the power surge generated when the HIDs first turn on?

If this point is true is it not therefore safer to keep the DRL's active to prevent accidentally switching on the headlights while the wipers are on (being that the headlights automatically come on when the engine is started)

I could be wrong however, the volvos may have a different problem to the a3s...

This was the case with my SEAT Leon. Blew 2 wiper motors due to starting the car up with both wipers & headlights on.

This also happen in other VAG cars, like the Audi A3 & Golf V.

On the same audi forum Joan mention this guys found a HID kit that solves the problem.

Rick89 from Canada tried the HID & posted his comments for about a year.

After the positive feedback from Ricky & other people they are making a Group Buy.

Seems the "Well Done" kit cures the issue of blowing the wiper motor.
As far as I can tell, it's electrical interference that causes the problem & blows some circuitry in the wiper motor.
Very common occurance on the Audi A3(8P).

Might give this kit a go. Expensive though - works out to be around £165 delivered.

Cheers mate.
Starting another bi-xenon project but don't want the wiper motor frying this time!
