I'm in the stealers now and there is a C70 here with 320 discs with 17" wheels. They are monster calipers though!

Acording to the slaes broucher I have all rear discs are 280mm diameter, this, figures as most of your braking is done by the front.
Must admit after seeing the pics of brake calipers further back inthe thread I checked mine last night & yup I defo have 320mm discs & monster calipers, thay is big.

I think it is easy to tell if you have 320 discs. if you look at the calipers and think "They are ok" then you don't. If you look at them and think "They are monsters and cover nearly half the disc" then they are.

In the stealers this morning the service manager mentioned that for some reason the rear pads wear at the same rate as the front on Volvos. Don't know if this is true of that he wanted me to have new rear pads.

I don't have the part numbers but I did look it up on microcat. The calipers are 226 + VAT each. The carriers are 139 +vat each the discs are 56+VAT each and pads are 58+vat.
So new its a very expensive option. On eBay there is guy selling nonbrand calipers for 222 which might come with calipers but whenever I've enquired the ones he had didn't have them. I got mine from a mangled car so were very cheap however breakers usually charge about 350+ per pair. |

Those were retail prices when i checked 3 days ago, you can get some discount peerhaps 10% depending on the dealer. But even at cost price for the parts it was still silly money.
volvo parts seem to attract a premium, even as "scrap" its usually cheaper to get the bits you need of a focus if you can get them. just be patient and shop about, i contacted a fair few and prices varied wildly, from about £250 each to £250 the pair. but most quoted about £350 the pair and most were including the discs for that price. I did look for volvo ones too but they are hens teeth. seems like the Big brake option wasnt taken or available to many who then binned the car lol. the Focus ST is alot more common as is driven by wallopers. |
