I'll be asking those questions before they do it.

I don't fancy everything tuned to the hilt and have all those parts replaced in a short time as they're worn out as they can't handle the extra power.
Thanks very much for your help mate

btw Whats your thoughts on sweeping indicators upgrade ??

Not a problem buddy, happy to help.

I don't mind the sweeping indicators, but it isn't a mod I'm interested in doing. Happy with standard blinkers.

Thanks Simmy.

I know, I know, I usually do, but thought it wouldn't be up for very long so I could get away with just the jack. But that's what everyone thinks until a jack fails.....

I hate Mini's and those that drive them.... LoL!!

Default V40 Fwend!!

My old work mate popped over at the weekend for a little catch-up and a little bit of car modification.

Only took the one picture as we were too busy talking and debadging his boot.

He removed the V40 and D2, leaving just the R-Design badge. Looked really nice in the end. Very clean.

Plans were made for a near future catch-up and major detailing session on both cars. Plenty of pics will be taken that day.

Default Upgraded Rear Lights and 1 More Decal.....

I planned on doing this in the near future, but as the bulbs I found were dirt cheap with next day delivery on Amazon, I placed an order late Sunday night.

Whilst I was washing the car today, they turned up

Both sets are by Osram

1. Diadem Chrome Indicator bulbs, to eradicate the egg yolk look at the rear
2. LED Reverse lights as they put out so much more light than standard halogen bulbs.

Here's a before with the standard halogen lights in

Gastly orange tinge from the indicator bulb. I had previously done this change on my V50.

Did the passenger side first. Surprisingly very easy to remove the bulb holder

One thing I did find was that the brake light is standard halogen..... I thought it was an LED, but that is just the sidelight that goes up the rear light unit.
I may change those to LED, but we'll see.

Passenger side complete with Chrome and LED bulbs installed

All checked before I put the bulb holder back into position.

Both sides complete

No more egg yolk look.

Drivers side complete

And a comparison shot

I kind of checked out the LED reverse lights to see how bright they were, but as it's Summer, it doesn't get really dark until late. They seem pretty decent though.

Not had chance to see what any of the lights on this car are like in the dark as I'm never out that late.......

As per a previous post, I received my Instagram decals. As the car was clean it was time to stick them on.

Ummm'd and arrrr'd about where to put them and ended up with this location

Actually selected by my partner, so props to her on this one. Quite like the position of it.

Default Cleaning Products and MORE Badges and Black Lettering

Not done anything to the car as I've been at work, but I'm off for 17 days shortly and I'm sure I'll find plenty to do.

In the meantime, a few items arrived over the past few days.

Some Sonax BSD to replace the bottle I recently finished. Really like this product. Gives the car a nice shine and the water beading is fantastic.
Really easy to use, spray on, wipe around with 1 cloth, then buff off with another.

Aerospace 303 Protectant. Finally purchased a bottle of this after seeing numerous posts from a local detailer when he used it on engine bays.
Brings plastics up really well and makes them look like new. So, first chance I get, I'll do a little engine bay cleaning and try it out.

Plan on also using it on the exterior plastics on the front and rear bumpers.

Next up, MORE badges!!!

A friend and I on one of the Facebook Volvo groups posted offering numerous badges and gloss black lettering.
We got numbers sorted and I said I'd probably have another couple of sets of the boot badges, just in case.

The keyring on the left is for my partner. i10 to go with her car.

I got another Moose badge for free, along with all the rubber swedish flag badges. Didn't even know he was throwing those in for me. Chuffed all the same.

5 of them in total

Funny thing is, the one I have on the car at the moment won't stay stuck down due to its position, so feel it'll be lost soon enough. Due to that, I ordered a pack of 5 from Ali Express, along with a few others things.
I'll now end up with 10 of them..............

Another Moose badge.

Will just be kept as backup, incase the one on the boot comes off.

Another 2 sets of what will make T2

And another V40 twice

I hope to not need them, but they were dirt cheap so thought why not.

Default Sensus Sat Nav Update

I saw somewhere that there had been another update for the Sensus Navigation system

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...aps/mca/europe

There's a few different systems and the web page gives you clear images of which one you need. I needed this one

So I downloaded that and got the car updated. It originally said it would take 1hour 50minutes.

I drove around for a while and it managed to update most of it. Stopped for a bit, went back out and it eventually finished the whole thing.

Not entirely sure what it's updated, probably just new routes/roads, but I couldn't find anywhere that gave you particular details on what the update included.

I had a quick look through all the settings, but didn't take much notice of what options I had before the update. Anyway, I changed a few settings to make it a bit more personalised.
I tend to just use my mobile phone when it comes to Sat Nav as Google Maps is really good in my opinion. After changing a few of the Sensus settings, I might give it another go. I only updated it as I knew there was one.

Default Seat Belt Pads and MORE Badges!!

A couple more bits showed up the other day from AliExpress

New seat belt pads

The quality isn't too bad, but definitely not as good as the previous ones I had in the V50.

And I know I already got 5, but those were unexpected and I'd already ordered these as they were only a couple of quid

Little Swedish flag badges

The one I had on the boot had lost its stickiness, so I put a new one on today after washing the car (post incoming for that) and now that ones has come straight off.
I think I'll have to find another place for it or find something with a bit more stick than the 3M stuff that's already on it.

Default Wednesday Wash Day!

Currently off work till the 22nd and today was a lovely sunny/overcast day, so that meant only 1 thing.............. Car cleaning!!!

Started on the exhaust tips and rear valance first

Bucket of normal wash shampoo, BH Korrosol and a couple of brushes

Before

The rear silencer

All caked in appropriate cleaning products

No direct after shots unfortunately, just overall finished product shots of the car as a whole shortly.

I used Korrosol and some "Pink Stuff" on the silencer and it didn't make a blind bit of difference. I might try some Autosol and some 0000 wire wool next time, see if that brings it up a bit better. I don't think the exhaust has ever been cleaned properly before I got the car and maybe too far gone to bring back.....

Standard cleaning method was used. Foam, rinse, foam, wash mitt

Here's the little badge that doesn't stay put

Used Aerospace 303 on the rear valance and the mudflaps

After the cinema tonight, I thought of somewhere decent to take some pictures of the car, rather than on the drive all the time.

Venue of choice was a nearby stately home/hotel

And that's it. All finished off with a coating of BSD.

Exhaust tips do come up quite nicely to be fair.

Next up is front grille dechrome. All booked in for 6th September. Just not sure whether to just have the outside part done or the Volvo emblem as well. Also need to decide on either gloss or satin black.

Default Brake Discs and other bits

My front brake discs were highlighted on Volvo's Health Check as needing changing in the near future. An order was place via onlinecarparts, which is a front for Autodoc.

Went for ATE discs, front and back. The box upon arrival was in a right state.

Checked the discs before I let the delivery driver go and thankfully they were unscathed.

300mm fronts and the standard 280mm rears.

The fronts were still fully packaged, but the rears didn't have the wrapping round the box.

And they came with new securing screws

So hopefully the fronts do as well.

Also got a couple of other bits from AliExpress

A black R badge

This, along with the spare moose badge I have will go on the front splitter I'm looking at getting next month. Will be placing them in the middle of the splitter. It's a copy of the Maxton Design splitter, so they'll go where the Maxton logo would be.

I also got some door card puddle light projectors

I also got some LED 501's for the puddle lights in the wing mirrors

First chance I got, I installed the projectors.

Opened the door, got my old butt on the floor and prized the OE lights out with a little flat head screwdriver

Thought I broke them at first as the clear plastic cover came off and the light unit stayed inside the door card

Eventually got it out with some persuasion and some needle nose pliers

Then the new ones were a direct replacement, just plugged straight in and clicked back into position.

I placed my hand under the passenger side one once it was installed and noticed the wording was upside down..... Damn....
There was no indication that they were sided so I proceeded to swap them around.

Waited until night time came and got a couple of pictures

Really decent quality and nice and clear projection. The passenger side one doesn't look like it, but that's due to that side of the car being near the grass and the driveway being a bit marked.

And finally, but by no means least............ a daft little touch

GOOMBA!!!!
