Taking shape. I feel you may regret not bringing the camera at a later date though. Its nice to have a good record. The garage may not take as many pics as you would. Nevertheless, its great to see a job well done!

Hi Gillberry,
your car coming along fine. I note what you say about the pictures and camera. My 120 is probably about the same stage as yours and there are two Polish guys involved in the car. One of whom is the spray painter. They are showing great enthusiasm and they too are taking pictures as they progress. I have told them it will be at the BKV next year and they had better make a good job. We shall see! The complete engine compartment is now painted and looking great. Quite exciting isn't it? |

That Amazon Estate is lovely!
I know what you mean about forgetting to take your camera! Luckily the bodyshop I used took loads of photos and put them in the gallery on their website. www.phoenix-coachworks.co.uk |

Rather surprising though to see how much rot they found in what was a seemingly very good car - just goes to show how well rust can hide.... Looking forward to seeing the progress

Took the camera today ,
This side had had various wheelarch repairs done and the old rusty metal left underneath , not now though . (the wing in the corner of the pic belongs to a 1930's Railton , I suppose I should take some pics of the other cars being worked on ) There were holes at each end of this panel as the drain holes were getting blocked , when they put her back together there will be larger drain holes . Both right and left of the screen had lots of rust bubbles that had gone thru to the inside . Ther nearside still looks scruffy as the lead loading is not yet finished . Sorry about being pic heavy but you can see proper metal not rust . The next stage is to trial fit the front doors to make sure all the gaps are good before the bare metal strip and repaint .

Fabulous! Never apologise for too many pics, the more the better. Great to see it being done right. Roll on the next update.

Ouch! That's a lot of fresh steel in the rear quarters. Had to have similar work done to mine too. Btw, in the corners under the reflectors, make sure that they have repaired all the inner structure & laminates properly as well. The outer skin rusts there due to water getting trapped between the outer skin and inner structure....
Given that the rear quarters rot out mainly due to water leaks from the rear side windows and the quality of the other 'repairs' that have been uncovered, I'd recommend removing all the paint from the panelwork at the base of those windows, to make sure that it is rust free, and not bodged!
