I successfully dismantled and cleaned my steering angle sensor about years ago and it's been fine since. Just cleaned the wheel and used a credit card wrapped in a glasses gleaning wipe through the slot.

Yea I had this on my V70 for a few years. But then had a forced acquisition of a VIDA+Lappy due to self induced airbag fault (seat removal) with MOT due had to do it. this also gave me the chance to address the SAS fault. Removed, stripped cleaned and a trim adjustment on the PCB and it was sorted. Took a couple of attempts to get right value on trim pot. Experimented with a couple more donor sensors to confirm the steps and they are all in good working state on vehicles now running reliably. If you ever feel like addressing this I would be happy to help at a fraction of a new replacement unit cost. However does need VIDA to reset on vehicle once changed.
