Not sure if this is the case still but one thing for certain, I would not have taken delivery of that car at all & would have demanded a new car or a substantial discount.
Good luck with having it resolved.
I think that may have been a Mitsubishi policy - as you have worked in the trade you will know just how many cars have had paintwork corrections before they have ever had a number plate attached. I used to work for a motor group and we had to paint 4 Peugeots almost overnight due to damage from a car leaking brake fluid on the top deck of the transporter. So 3 x 206's and 1 x 306 had almost a full re-spray before they hit the road....

One I remember from my days in the trade, when I was the business manager for a large Fiat dealership..

We had a brand new special edition Fiat Coupe Turbo all prepped to go out the following morning, and someone had jammed the lock in the showroom sliding doors that afternoon, so it was decided to leave it on the forecourt...

Dealership was next to a golf course, needless to say, when I arrived on the early shift to open up the next day, there was a hole in the middle of the shattered rear window, glass everywhere and a nice golf ball sitting on the dash.. The car wash guy then proceeded to scratch the crap out of the tailgate and two rear quarters by brushing away the broken glass..

Car was dispatched to the body shop post haste for the rear quarters to be painted, and the tailgate and rear seats were removed from my own car (I had exact same as my demo) and put into the new car... I went home with clear polythene as my rear window that night..

Customer was not told of the incident...

At last an excellent car detailer has managed to undo the paint damage caused by my overzealous now ex Volvo dealer. As you can see the difference before and after , the only trouble it was a 240 mile round trip to the detailer. It took him 4 days to correct and to detail the whole car. You can see it was worth it! I have other photographs and will post them separately .
Now we can enjoy our XC90 at last !

Ah great looks fantastic, so glad you got it sorted probably looks better now than it would of out of the showroom.

Out of interest did Volvo cover the paint correction?

Excellent detailer choice in Jim White! He pushes out some excellent finishes.

Did you choose Gtechniq Crystal Serum followed by Exo? Edit just checked Jim's posts on his facebook page yes it was.

Follow up process just avoid being to heavily alkali product wise when washing otherwise Exo can be damaged. Crystal Serum is very strong though.

The answer is no , never asked for any money because we were so disillusioned with the state of the car. How dare they ! Needless to say that after buying four new Volvo's from this dealer in the last three years ,we will not be returning!

We were most impressed with Jim White's detailing, it exceeded our expectations, so much so that our other Volvo S60 MY14 is at Jim's at the moment for the same treatment.

Have just bought most of the Gtechniq cleaning products ,used to be SwissVax user but this Gtechniq is completely different . Most impressed with Jim's work!

That looks fantastic, the difference, on even the previously unblemished areas is amazing. Just shows what a proper "detailer" rather than a "valeter" can do using the correct techniques and products. I'd be sending the invoice to Volvo UK and asking them to foot the bill though..
