We have done analysis and less than I suppose the end of a tea spoon of dirt / dust can contaminate about 45 Gal of fuel which is enough to wreck the fuel system of a modern High Pressure common rail system. In fact even with pre filtration we now struggle to keep the flow and clean dirty fuel.

I have a example bottle which I will try and photograph and attach but it is astonishing how little it takes to cause problems now.

So much so the first step in any warranty claim is a fuel sample and a tank drain of sediment etc. Not to get out of warranty but to make sure once we repair the engine is not down again 250 hrs. later.
