Based on the fact the vacuum pipes looked and felt original and with original spring clips I can assume the boost control valve is original too so at 173k it’s probably long past it’s best.
Maybe just bite the bullet and order a new one!

I did give a squirt of carb cleaner so that may have buggered it up completely or free’d the internal bits. Tomorrow will tell me more. I’ve had enough for tonight

Question Update:

A lengthy drive out today and no reoccurrence of the flashing arrow so I’m going to take that as a win!
The throttle body cleaning and fettling I think sorted that drama.

However the lack of boost is still a pain in the arse. Can anyone advise regarding the turbo control valve….. if I blow through the yellow or red ports should I feel airflow though the other port? Or is it’s default to be closed off?

I’ve removed mine and blown through it but the flow is so little that I could barely get any air through it. I can’t remember if I was blowing through red or yellow but it was very restricted. Anyone got any clues or do I just buy a new one?

My boost according to the stock gauge is about 1/5 in to the white zone if that. All vacuum lines from turbo to boost control valve are now silicone 5mm hoses and are clamped securely.
