That is appalling - the bulb price is reasonable but a £25 charge for fitting is an absolute rip-off (even Halfords doesn't charge that much to fit a bulb!!). It takes less than 2 mins to change this bulb - at that rate they are charging you £750 per hour!!

It would actually have taken longer to create the invoice and take the money than it did to fit the bulb

Not to mention the 20 mins they spent arguing the toss. The thing that wound me up was that last time it was under warranty but this time it was not because the car is now over 12 months old and bulbs are not warranty items on cars >12months old.

Dealer in question is SF in Pirbright if you are interested.

That is disappointing as I use the same SF and have found them very good until now - will need to watch them from now on

dont forget the time to connect up to the volvo computer and erase the fault code which has to be done before the light will come back on ... so not too bad considering all . The time for the side marker bulb change is 12 mins , for erasing the code say 10 mins so in fact you are talking about a £75 / hr labour charge which is probably a bit conservative ...

Incorrect - the bulbs will come back on without any fault code diagnosis or resetting, therefore not required

12 mins is significantly excessive for this work - even allowing 5 mins, which is VERY generous, it still works out at £300 per hour.

Halfords would charge £7.50, VW £12.50 and BMW do it for free - Volvo are clearly ripping people off for this service.

.
actualy Its very correct in the case i had , the code had to be reset before the 2 lights came back on after changing the side position bulb .. It was a very early model , perhaps the software has changed now if yours is more current .

Well - it happened again - but on the other side - no LED and no position light.

On the counsel of this tread - changed the position light with a 5w bulb which was hanging around the garage - tried ignition and fixed in under 3 minutes in the dark with only a dim torch !

Volvo do have a neat fixings mechanism to remove the headlamp unit - two stays removed and its done.

Thanks chaps
