The drivers seat is terrible I drove to Cambridge and back from Nottingham yesterday and on getting out my left leg was painful from the top of my thigh to my foot with a sciatic type pain.
Has anybody with a V90 tried a XC90 to see if the driving position is better, I'm 6'2 and weigh about 13 stone 4 pounds, just wondered if they have a slightly higher driving position and different seats.
I have V90 inscription with nappa leather and i will say that seats are the most comfy seats that i ever had i drove a lot long journey (6h and longer) and never get tired from seating. Previous car p**s me off after 40min but there will be different opinion for those seats too. Every person is different

Not sure its of any help, but for what it is worth I have had an XC90 Inscription with Nappa leather and the seat extension and now have an XC90 R-Design Pro with full leather sports seats and seat extensions, and have never experienced this problem reported for the V90. I am 6'2" and have the extension fully extended. My wife is 5'7" and has the extension fully retracted.

Hello everyone,

Let me add some info.

Have V60CC 2022 Early edition, model just before Google introduction, leather seats with ventilation & extension - not sure if it's Polestar model?

Prior to buying had a test car over a weekend, did not feel any issues. With my new car after a few weeks - not immediately - feel aches etc, similar to what you've described. Once is has started I can feel it after few minutes of driving.

Main ache is under my thigh, seems source of it are leather stitches from extender.

What I've already tested

- tried to flatten the seat as much as possible, helps little bit, but then almost hitting the roof with my head, not comfortable

- when extender is fully in there is no pain in bottom but pressure to tight is quite high and uncomfortable,

- when extender is being retracted tight pressure is lower but then bottom pressure is higher, I can feel this metal bar you were writing about

- bought a pillow at Amazon with special foam, helps a little but then my bottom is not stable, don't like it

Out of ideas not, VOLVO dealer so far exchanged extender cushion but it did not help, will contact them again.

Although the card in general is amazing the seat comfort is the worst among all cars I was using...

Do you have any other ideas what to do with it?

I have a 2019 V60 Inscription with these extenders. After having had a 2015 v70 for 90k miles, which had the most comfortable seats of any car I've had, this one was awful.

I repeatedly considered just trading it in for a Passat as the seats killed my legs on any journey over 15 minutes.

I gave up fiddling with the extender and pulled it right back.

After the car had done 20000 miles (at 9 months) the seat was better, once it had passed 40000 miles I no longer noticed the ridge.

It's now edging towards 80000 miles and the seat is ALMOST as comfortable on long journeys as the V70.

From what I can see, the Momentum seats are the seats from the V70.

I'll be unlikely to buy another new Volvo anyway now they don't make anything sensibly priced for the high mileage driver, but if I did go for a used one I would definitely not buy anything with these seat extenders. Courtesy cars with them are just as bad, Momentum models without as courtesy have been fine. Says it all I'm afraid - all you can do is effectively bounce up and down on it for the equivalent of 30000 miles to knock the padding into submission.

The seats in my V60 Momentum Pro are very comfortable, but they don't have that 'silly' seat extender.

We are all different and my view only works for me but this thread demonstrates why car buying cannot go completely online.

When car shopping I firstly look for whether there is space for my left foot as many cars in the RHD conversion tend to overlook this. I then look at the seat comfort as years ago I made the mistake of buying an Audi A8 with the sports seats. After a while it had to go to be replaced by one with comfort seats, thankfully both used so not that painful financially.

In the showroom I knew straight away that the R Design seat in the XC90 was a no go for me and the Inscription was a probable no, hence my buying a Momentum which has been great. Nice cost saving too.

Yes, Momentum and Mo Pro seats appear to me to be the same as the old V70 seats, which don't have the ridge as they don't have the extender - they are a far far better seat.

My Momentum has the seat extenders and both front seats*. If properly adjusted so that the whole upper leg to the back of the knee is supported I find them very comfortable, especially on long trips.

*These may have been an option; I can't remember.

Just an update - VOLVO decides to exchange bottom cushion. Will keep you updated...

So far they have exchanged extender cushion - see small improvement.

Have a feeling that cushions/paddings are too small/too soft so I can easily reach metal bars underneath and feel all the pressure from it...

I also find skin stitches hard and causing discomfort - do you feel the same? Especially right leg is pressed from the right stitch which is between skin with ventilation and regular one (without ventilation).
