I can see that only one that might apply to your model. Could you post if it does? It wouldn't be related to your probem though, as I don't think you've ever compained of it going into limp home mode, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I guess if/when they find your problem they'll be able to issue a recall notice for affected cars (if that's how it works)

Thanks.

4wheeldriver,
Thanks and keep us posted on how you get on with VOSA. Have you contacted Volvo with this news or have you lost patience with them now (don’t blame you if you have). Just wandering if they change there stance.

CAr is now going to local dealer for an engineer from VCUK coming up to do the inspection. Have to admit that I would have preferred a more "neutral" inspection as this smacks of the fox being left in charge of the chicken run but at least its now progressing. List of faults now totals 10. From the hesitation to the drivers door not locking from the plipper!! No longer dealing with CS in Coventry but an "Escalation Manager" from Marlow. Looks like theyre taking me seriously now that VOSA are involved. Was given her direct number to contact her and they are trying to send me an XC60 to use until they have finished the inspection/repairs. Might just keep it if its any good!! lol As a matter of passing interest, VOSA have TWO engineers that cover the whole of Britain in the Vehicle Safety Branch!! Shows where government priorities lie in regard to safety!! £30 odd grand for a speed camera and 2 engineers for Vehicle Safety!!!

The last one may be the source of 2 of the problems as it appears that my vehicle is actually an 03/08 model. I doesnt go into limp home mode but could that be the source of the knocking noise under throttle?? The extra weight and strain of puling the caravan could have affected it??

You will know for sure as it gives the VID number for the models applicable.

thats a job for tomorrow as the registration document is buried in the filing cabinet and I will have a look in the morning. Going to have an early night with two horse sized painkillers as the back/leg has been really bad last couple of days and havent had much sleep. Oh for the days of youth, health and no worries!!

I can supply a "Silver Bullet", should you decide to go down that route.

Back problems? A pain in the back, or a---e.

The angle gear problems with "P2" AWD models is well known about and widely reported worldwide. For Volvo to attempt to deny all knowledge is frankly laughable.

Are Volvo stupid enough to risk a re-run of the damage done to their reputation during the ETM problems? I imagine we will find out...

cheers

James

Unhappy No rear wheel drive

At 4-Wheeldriver's urging I too have contacted VOSA Vehicle Safety Branch in Bristol.
They were very interested in the lack of rear wheel drive in an AWD vehicle because, altho not overtly a safety issue, people who had bought one might enter a situation where they would expect their AWD to operate and then be at risk because it didn't.
They knew about bevel/angle gear problems and are sending a form for me to complete.
They would appreciate additional information from as many people as possible.
Pl call 0117 954 3245 for the form.
With their dossier they will contact Volvo,

In response to 4wheeldriver it is £100k per year to install and maintain every speed camera in britain. The arithmetic on that one would keep you off your sleep.

Two safety inspectors for the whole of britain, but 200 smoking police on £20k a year each.

The lunatics are running the asylum.
