Today i retrofitted reverse parking sensors. Was a lot easier than I thought. The rear bumper and stripped out the foil. Sure enough the bulls eyes were on the rear of the bumper so I knew exactly where to drill. Really happy with the results. Next on my list is handbrake shoe adjusters as the handbrake is pants at the moment

How easy was to remove the bumper cover?

One thing to check at the handbrake is a small o-ring where the cable goes into the hub, on the rear face of the hub. This seal breaks and water gets inside the cable damaging it.

It was a cheap 10 quid sensor kit off eBay. Pulled the speedo trim out from behind the steering wheel and run the cable through all the plastic trim on the driver side and rear passenger side.

The bumper took literally about 5 minutes to remove. Undo the 4 13mm bolts from inside the boot which holds the bumper on. Everywhere I read says you need to remove the battery, I had enough room to remove the end bolt with the battery still in place so that probably saved time. Once the 4 bolts are removed. Look at the rear arches. I had one torx holding the bumper on from the top inside of the arch and one from underneath the arch. So 2 torx bolts either side. A bit of jiggling around and off it comes..

You need to take the polystyrene off the inside of the bumper. Grab a biggish flat head and undo all the clips that hold it in. Find the bulls eyes drill then out and then plug your new sensors in.

Took belly pan off and checked gearbox mounting, as expected its shot (already replaced the top engine mount). New one ordered.

Tomorrows job is to check the alternator belt tensioner and alternator pulley.
