It is either a B18B (100 HP) or B18D (90 HP), but either way I tend to agree - it is a simple motor and may well be quite easy to fix. There is a risk of course that there might be something more serious wrong, which one would have to factor in to the price.

Sorry, i was thinking B20B when i said 115bhp - had several things on my mind all involving numbers at the time!

I doubt it will be a B18D as i believe they were only destined for California, even back then!

You're right, there could be something more serious wrong like HGF (or it could be even simpler like the brake servo NRV leaking or blocked jets in the carbs/float level, sticking needle valves etc) but unlikely if it idles ok.

Other than that, it looks a good candidate for a rolling resto!

GAM is a B18D Dave (4968-02), so that variant must have been sold in the UK (at least in 1963).

That doesn't change the price of fish much, whether its a B18B or D it is still a pretty simple motor with not all that much to go wrong. It is all cast iron, so whilst it could be a HG or worn bores, mechanical issues are a bit less likely. It is probably a fuel/air system fault and maybe wouldn't take long to sort (I reckon I could have it running okay in a day).

If that motor car goes for a sensible price (3-5 grand) I'd say it would make a pretty good GAM type runner with a bit of time and not a lot of money. I doubt it is worth spending £25,000 on, but I think it would be nicer much as it is (but running right).

Not having the einspritzen and needing welding makes the price ridiculous. It is only worth half the asking price (in my opinion, for what that is worth).

I'm pretty sure the B1800e motor (einspritzen) came in 1970 - this is a 1971 motor car, so I think it should have a D-Jetronic system (although I don't have a great knowledge of the P1800 - I did some research to help me take care of Delores, that is all).

Ah! I see, I hadn’t checked the photos. It started life as a B18e, but someone has replaced the D-Jetronic system with a pair of SU carburettors, but not even bothered to remove the injectors. Ho hum, what a bodge. This is what it is supposed to look like:

On reflection it looks like a pretty rough motor car, worth nearer 5 grand than £15,000. The seller is being more than just a little bit cheeky; it is nowhere near as good as Delores.

It looks like the two tone Amazon didn't find a buyer at 8 grand - perhaps we'll see it again soon?
