... yes Steve, get the big picture stuff (pension and garage project) sorted out before you start worrying about hobby cars. I have to stop myself every time I see an interesting Minor convertible/Rover P6/Bentley/Velocette/Ariel Leader or whatever and remind myself I'm planning a move to Somerset-next-the-Sea for later on this year. We all become guilty of putting the cart before the horse from time to time

Very wise words Alan, although funny you mention a Minor, as I don't really help myself with our old car affliction.

On the way back from the coast yesterday, signs to a local classic car show I'd never heard about, well it was a lovely sunny day so it would be rude not to drop in and give it a look wouldn't it...😀

An absolutely stunning deep maroon Minor Pick Up, wow, and the chap who had done the work had done everything himself, including paint over 2 years. It was immaculate and underneath it was just as spotless, god help him if he's ever at an event and some rain comes in.

Trouble is, it just adds fuel to our addiction seeing what is possible, albeit by a very skilled old chap😀😀

Cheers

I'm sure the Minor pick up was lovely Steve, but I can never see the point of going that far with projects - at that stage they become akin to making models or collecting art. There is nothing wrong with the chap spending his time on his hobby of course, particularly if he has done the work himself. It is a good alternative to a OO scale layout of a LNER goods' yard in 1967.

Stop yourself looking at older motor cars at the moment Steve. Focus on making sure your retirement finances are adequate first, then on getting that garage of yours completed. There will be plenty of interesting projects available autumn 2024 when it is done.

PS. What a world we live in: everything is so cheap and widely available. I just had to pop out to the Lidl store for some groceries (18 year old sons eat so much!) and saw plasma cutters for sale at only £120. Now, I don't need a plasma cutter but the temptation is huge. I had to wrench myself away from the store and consider displaying cool tools in a food store to be very sharp practice.

Nice Arrow. I rode one of a mate of mine as a lad. Never liked the Leader.

A bloke used to race a 375 Arrow engined triple at Darley Moor in the sixties.
Weird!🤔

It’ll go in the removal van Alan!😈

I'd sort of prefer a Leader really. Arrows and Leaders still sell very cheaply and are simple enough to fix with a penknife and a piece of wood.

I must stop myself looking for potential car/bike/gun projects and focus on getting a move to a house with a large garage in sunny Somerset organised first.

Whilst you wait for the East Anglian 145s to appear, here's something related to splurge that pension payout on:
