It's rubbish - as a seller I hate eBay. Once you open your dispute you have to then give the buyer a certain amount of additional days to respond. If you sell the car in the meantime and your buyer does eventually repond before you can close out and get your fees refunded, he is (technically) well within his eBay rights to dump you with a negative feedback. Getting such a mark removed by eBay is nigh on impossible. They really have ruined it for private low-volume sellers in recent years.

There are so many car dealers that use Ebay to get stock, that chances of a genuine sale are probably well under 50%
Dealers will have 20-30 accounts all with 10-20 feedback (created by selling stuff to themselves for pennies) they then see something they want, decide what they want to pay (say 800 quid) and then put in max bid of say 8000 quid, they are then Gt'eed to knock everyone else out, and bids still go silly in last few minutes, making it look genuine (often they will put in a bid on another account for say 700 quid an hour or so B4 auction ends, If bidding goes above what they want, they just ignore, if it goes a bit over, they may turn up and haggle, if they get it for what they want (or less) they buy it. Heads they win, Tails You loose, Ebay made the rules that no negative feedback can be left by a seller, so dealers just exploite it, and will leave you negative feedback if you dispute, usually something about car not as described, didn't say that xyz fault existed, (even though they have never even seen car) you then relist, people look at your feedback, are put off by that comment, he then wins auction for far less next time round, using a different account Last edited by cookie; Aug 7th, 2010 at 18:05. |

Well if my time wasting buyer wants to leave me negative feedback then that's fine by me. I think the majority of eBay users are clued up about how these strange people feel the need to bid on something they have no intention of following through on!
Anyhoo, just sold the car, taken a deposit and they're coming back on Wednesday to collect! |
