Unfortunately, not being very computer-literate it would need a member with more wisdom than me to do the application. Perhaps our Ken can ask his new friends at the DVLA how it is best asked.
My kind of collector! I hope one day to have a 122 or other mature classic Volvo to alternate with my 262C.

Hi
quick progress report.
contact with DVLE FOI office has been made. Waiting to clarify terms of info required matching that available before making full request. A while to wait but hopefully it will be worth it.
On the S\R front I am increasingly convinced it is sun roof. My newly acquired 360GLT has factory fitted metal sunroof and 360 GLT S\R on V5 document.

Well the good news is that the S/R on the list from last year is definitely sunroof. The rest I'm afraid is bad news.
Despite being able to provide me with a list of all the 200 series left on the register last year, the DVLA now inform me that the cost of providing the information would be above a limit of £600 and therefore they are not obliged to answer my Freedom of Information request.
They suggested that all the statistical info we wanted is available commercially from various insurance and motor industry organisations who they supply with anonymised data sets from the DVLA register.
There is a right of appeal, but no indication on what grounds an appeal can be made.
I'm intending to follow this up, but firstly I am going to contact The Guardian newspaper who are running a "Free our Data" campaign (see each Thursday Technology supplement). It would seem that despite our taxes paying for the collection of every detail of our lives the Freedom of Information act doesn't actually allow us to access much of it.

Told you it stood for sunroof

I think the problem is that you're dealing with the DVLA. They're utter...well...you fill in the blank!

cheers

the dvla have more pressing things to do like selling your details to any tom dick or harry with the slightest interest than to do something meaningfull for their employers!

Were they just denying it because of the extra data that you asked for? Or just denying a repeat of the original request?

How do you go about requesting this anyway? Would love to get a similar list for the amazons.

Wish I worked at the DVLA! I'm a programmer, and doing an enquiry like that on a database would take about 2 minutes. Even if you allow time for the request to get passed around a bit and a reply formulated, I can't see how it would cost £600.

50% of my 240s are SORNed. That's two running, one just retired probably for spares, and one dismantled and existing only in boxes and tea chests.

I'm leaving them SORNed just to keep open the option of some kind of chassis/mechanics/VIN juggling in the future, but probably won't.

I would be interested in seeing the same kind of info on the 700 series. I don't think I have ever seen a pre-1985 740/760 although the 760 was made in 1982 and the 740 in 1984 (I think).
