I swung by the dealer this morning for a light chat.
It sounds like things like lane departure can be switched off - I too am "old school". Still unsure - I think the ACC & Cross traffic alert could be very useful on a regular basis, not convinced about the rest. thanks for all the comments: welcome any thoughts from other D4 FWD owners who have these things on how well they work in practice. Other thing is that the dealers are still awaiting MY15 car changes, so may see what that does to the options, etc... |

Lane departure warning, Blis, auto stop can all be turned off. Only thing I sometimes turn off is LDW.
Just what options have you put above the Driver Support Pack??

I assumed over 30mph you'd need ACC active to guarantee stopping in time.. I guess you mean it will brake for you at 125mph but you wont stand much chance of missing a stationery car in the outside lane (in the fog)..
Be interesting to know what the closing speed max is.. Last edited by Considered1; Mar 4th, 2014 at 16:06. |

The video's not in English, so I can't say for definite whether this was an ACC or driver safety pack feature. |

Not the video to which you refer but I'd forgotten about the incremental steps on ACC.. is it 5.. i only remember 2 from my test drive but 5 would be great. |

I'm still firmly on a fence!
Reading more bits took me to a review at http://cars.uk.msn.com/reviews/volvo...w-2013-onwards A nice review overall, but one thing it does say is it included the "£1,900 Driver Support Pack (a brilliant safety innovation in theory, but which in practice can be annoying as the car monitors lanes, blind spots and oncoming traffic incessantly, beeping with galling frequency)." I guess I need to test drive one with the pack, & then decide! I think I probably said before, I do see these things (eg lane departure, etc) as the future, and some as pretty good today....but in the words of the Larson cartoon, I am an old dog, & this is a new trick ;-) Thanks again for all comments/advice/etc! |
