I've done that a few times - its a faffy job, and as you have found out they often need some reinforcement. I think I used some epoxy resin the last time.

Been a few weeks and thought I would update the thread with some of the things I have been doing.
Despite trying my absolute best to hold off looking for and buying wheels, I failed...I came across a set of four Perfo wheels with tyres and made a cheeky offer and £60 later they were mine. They were a bit of a punt as they had apparently been sat under a tarp for many years so I had kind of written off the tyres and assumed all the wheels would need work, potentially a full refurb. As it turns out I think I was very fortunate because all four wheels were pretty good on the face side of the wheel, all four tyres looked OK on initial inspection and all the centre caps were present. When I got them home I was able to have a proper look and it turns out that two of the tyres are brand new! Both Eagle F1's too! The other two are both Continental something or others and one is almost new and one is used so I shall probably look to replace that with a matching tyre. In terms of the wheel condition I was similarly surprised as they were mostly OK. Only one had suffered at the hands of the weather (I assume this was in contact with the ground). This is the worst wheel: I decided it was worth trying my hand at a soft refurb and just do the rear side with some rattle can spray so off I went... After a sand down: After a masking (this took bloomin ages!): And then sprayed: Then I decided to clean the centre caps, which went from this: To this: Then I sat for 3 hours hand polishing the face of each wheel to remove old grime, haze marks and some surface scratches with a mild compound like the picture below: I used the same wheel nuts that were already on the car but they were horrifically "ages" lets call it. So decided to give them a little rattle can treatment too and to aid the process of holding them up and drying I made a little holder: And here they are on the car: And here is the car being used in exactly the way it was intended: In there was 8 bags of 25kg stone chippings, 4 large pots, 4 plants, 6 lots of 60l compost, 3 lots of 60l of bark and some plant feed. It was low! Getting there! Really happy with the progress so far and I must say I am really enjoying having a car I can work on again. Upcoming things on the list: clear side repeaters v70 tail lights replacement door warning light (cracked) get the car checked over properly

Looking a whole lot better now. The wheels are Columba not Perfo. The difference is the placement of the valve stem

I've also been told the Perfo wheels will also allow the fitting of larger front discs. Glad you managed to get the remote working, keep up the good work

Very small update from last week; clear side repeaters. I am personally not a fan of orange lights so these had to go, plus the fact the orange ones were hanging out the wing because, as it turned out, someone had broken the plastic clips that hold them in place so I'm very happy with these. Thank you John!

I was looking at the first picture and for a few seconds I thought I had totally missed that I have front foglights then I realised it was your car
