I think the simple fact of the matter is that the diesel is more than powerful enough for most and probably pulls steam train like due to its torque.
If you suffer the shiny pin syndrome and must buy the latest reg plate and are a bit of an eco worrier then yu can waste your money on the T8 which appears to offer little if anything over the cheaper diesel. |

Khm-khm.. more hp yes- but you're wrong about torque.. T8 is weaker by 80Nm..
