Dave Mito,
any news of who will be buying these sites? I recall when I was at another manufacturer they had a few large dealer group disappear but it wasnt long till other groups stood in and bought the site and maintained it as a dealer for the same brand. Im sure volvo Uk is busy sorting this out! When are the dealers due to close exactly? volvo stockport is currently sharing with saab and chevrolet but were they not in the process of building a new building for volvo having close the site on the A6? |

we were told that the move to st marys way was only for 6 months till vauxhall moved up there and we went to the vauxhall site.
the site is owned by pendragon and saab is staying on so who ever opens up a volvo site (if it happens) would have to find or build a new site. Lets hope it happens soon, becuase volvo are a really nice brand to work for, its just pendragon that are the problems |

have stratstone closed all volvo dealerships or just some ie stockport and manchester?
I received a stratstone newsletter today which talks about an XC60 launch event next weekend (15 and 16th) but it talks about coming to dealers in Birmingham, Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham, Stafford and Stoke On Trent Are some going or all? Has Stratstone lost all its franchises as volvo pulled them? |

hello,
thanks for the update. I guess volvo franchising will be moving fast to get these dealers replaced. The volvo dealership in Bury has already been completely stripped of volvo parts and signage...its just an empty site there now. Did know that stratstone or volvo would move that fast!! hopefully the sites will be replace by new franchises soon. Id heard of problems with working for Stratstone especially given the way staff are treated and people being charged £100 an hour. I guess volvo also wasnt happy about £80 warranty rate PS are you the Dave from the parts department? cheers shimon |

I fell victim of the closures this morning. Closest dealership to me is now Warrington. One damper bolt just cost me £5 to have it posted up here.

hi
I spoke to Volvo UK this morning and volvo is looking to replace all the Stratstone sites very quickly, end of 2008 or early 2009 at the latest. some sites will be refranchised and some will be at new premises. volvo UK is working hard on this and are working hard to get things sorted. I'm going to Warrington on Sunday too. Thats now my local dealer.... |

Wonder whats happened to all the cars that they had in stock.
I guess and new unreg. will go back to Volvo UK, but all there Ex. Demo's & Used stock. There might of been a few bargins to be had. I known Stratstone gave big discounts on new shaped V70's selling them around the same price as other dealers were selling used ones, this didn't help the resale value.

Pendragon (Stratstones) are in a lot of financial problems, nearly £300million in the red apparently, they are trying to negotiate the sale of their truck division as well from what I've read recently.
