DOn't know, probably didn't get a good discount. Contacted them this morning, redirected to National Windscreens who can replace the screen in the next few days. Hope they are OK.
I know Peterborough is some 3 plus hours, my MiL lived in Thorney. Just a long dose of A3, M25, and A1. Tedious.

Don’t fancy long drive up to Peterborough before it’s changed. Another conversation with LV me thinks.
It could be worse, mine was cracked in the same area, Direct Line would only contribute £100 if I didn’t use Autoglass, how do I get the the £100, by starting a claim and and they would send me £50, that’s what is left after the £50 excess.

I doubt your dealer will be doing it himself, the dealer freely admitted only the screen would be fitted by Autoglass, even though Autoglass said they could also calibrate it, the dealer supplied the screen and said calibration would be done in house.

I had my screen replaced by Volvo under warranty, the dealer supplied the screen and they subbed it to a local independent glass replacement chap who swapped it in the dealers yard. I was told that replacing with a genuine screen didn’t need separate calibration, it sorts itself out. I’ve not had any problems with pilot assist or intellisafe since the work was done.

My dealer now has the facility to replace the screen themselves. They used to use a local independent.

The screen went on our old XC40 and our insurers insisted we used Autoglass, however they could not obtain a screen and they had to buy through Volvo - took 4 weeks to arrive. They would not complete the job at home and my wife had to take the car on a 2 hr round trip to fit and recalibrate.

I imagine it's all down to kickbacks from the glass companies.

My last few insurers have stated I must use their preferred company and if I go elsewhere then they will only make a small (£100 or thereabouts) contribution towards it.

This hasn't always been the case and I vaguely remember, even only 10 years ago, that my insurer back then covered OEM glass fitted by dealer as a no extra cost option.

Be aware though, because it surprised me, that any glass claim (even the "free" repair like I had) affects your renewal and has to be put for the next 5 years as a claim on the insurance. When doing my renewal last year, some insurers hiked the premium when I declared it, others didn't. Nothing is free in this world!

This seems to vary between insurers. In the last 2 weeks I have been looking at insurance for my new XC90 and spoken to 3-4 reputable (?) insurers, when it came to previous claims most did not class windscreens as previous claims but I have noticed in the recent past with insurance on wifes car they did class glass as a previous claim (although didnt increase the premium). Funny old world.
