Of course it’s no less safe, it’s just different. I agree that switching things on the centre screen isn’t as convenient but unsafe?
A German court might disagree with you there.

Don't try that on the A9 - there are hundreds of signs for trucks reminding them that their speed limit is 50 (while cars are 60) but the software isn't clever enough to spot the difference and warns you that you are speeding and tries to slow the car down.

I switched the speed limit assist off a week after I bought the car in 2019. I've tried it since from time to time. In each case, it gets the wrong speed from somewhere.

Worst is the M1, where it decided to slam the brakes on when I was doing a good 75 in the outside lane, presumably because the database had a record of earlier roadworks and dropped me to 40mph. Wife was all for getting rid of the car at that point (I'd had it 5 days) and getting our V70 back from the dealer...

Ever since I've just used standard cruise and standard limiter but switch between them multiple times on a long journey.

I don't have it on my car, but I can see the problem. Near us the A road crosses a roundabout on a flyover. For some reason the car thought it was on the roundabout so indicated a speed limit of 30mph when all around me was doing 70! Also, when leaving the golf club I turn left at a T junction which has a narrow access road opposite with a 20 limit. I have to go 200 yards or more before there is a 40 limit sign, until then my car shows a limit of 20. No way would I consider using the speed limiter facility. My speed limiter is me, it's worked for the past 60 years and hopefully for few more.

correct, I never understand the practical use of speed limiter, you just don't exceed the speed limit using your foot. not even used the limiter once. I find it very temperamental and not useable.

adaptive cruise is good enough even at 20mph roads, set it, use it, turn on/off when approaching roundabouts, lights, pedestrian crossing etc. never been a problem.

Speed limiter with the link to road signs SWITCHED OFF is very useful.

You set it at the limit for the road (plus a buffer as the car under reads).

This means you can concentrate on the road not continually keep looking at the dashboard. It also means you don't drift up when the car in front decides it's time to speed.

The speed limiter linked to road signs though - total junk. Worst feature in any car. I test drove a few cars last week, all that had it on as default were wrong at least once on a 10 minute test drive.

Doesn't sound any different to just using adaptive cruise, there's no speed drift with adaptive cruise, if some one speeds off it stops at the limit you set, if you go down a hill the car does a its regen thing to charge the battery, maintaining your set limit, works well.

True.

Mine doesn't have adaptive as it's one of the last "normal" cars they made with an engine, a gearbox and a clutch.
