Hi
So between December 2015 and Jan 2016, I replaced all mounts to my 2009 XC90 D5 Geartronic at around 138k miles due to perceived vibration noise. p/n 30680751 - Engine Pad (front lower vacuum mount) £92.50 p/n 31262155 - Engine Pad (rear lower vacuum mount) £94.50 p/n 30748811 - Engine Pad (lower under crank pulley) £94.50 p/n 30741583 - Engine Anchorage (rear upper torque mount) £50.50 p/n 30680750 - Torque Rod (lower front to gearbox mount) £36.00 All plus Vat from Volvo (supply only & 2015 / 2016 prices) All fairly straight forward to replace with exception to rear lower mount (but managed to do without lowering subframe, but broke vacuum hose nozzle connector in the process.... p/n 30671345 - Hose (hose kit incl nozzles) £13.20 Top mount was shot, lower vacuum mounts ok but had settled and were noticeably a little shorter (squashed) when compared to new. Rear lower vac mount probably gave best improvement, but fitting new tyres all round also made an improvement but never really got rid of noise / vibration until changing transfer box / bevel gear oil recently at 150k miles. Now much better, so much so I also replaced rear diff and Haldex oil. Simon |

I would check your front wheel balancing, are you sure it is not speed related rather than engine revs, wheel balancing issues are usually felt through the steering wheel around 50mph and go around 60mph but it can happen at other speeds. Vibration felt in the steering at certain speeds are a classic sign of wheel imbalance but not the cause.

Engine mount fail vibration is a buzzing felt in the steering wheel. Out of balance wheels cause the steering wheel to twitch at a high frequency. Had both. Wheels out of balance caused by new tyres being fitted and wheel balancer at tyre fitters being faulty!
Also other vibration, but normally comes up through floor is prop shaft bearings/balance. had that too! luckily prop shaft repaired under warranty! |
