You cannot import POIs into the previous incarnation of the satnav system - unless you want to put in each one manually and that will be rather tedious given that there are several thousand in the UK - and somehow you need to work out the ones that are already supplied by Navteq

The main reason for my confusion is that according the Navteq website it is the same set of maps for the 2009, 2010 and 2011 version of the car. There is no separation between pod and sensus; ergo, if you are using the same map version you are getting the same POI information and you should be able to access them somewhere in the sensus menu. I have also noticed that the sensus menu appears to be identical to the pod menu (for Satnav) only displayed differently. Hopefully my logic holds up and you see my point

In the Sensus Nav setings menu, there doesn't appear to be anywhere to enable facility warning, and whilst the maps may well be the same, the speed camera POI's don't seem to appear. The only related items is a speed sign detailing the current roads speed limit in the top right hand corner, although this doesn't appear on all roads. From other posts on this forum, it appears that an update to the Sensus software creates an option on the Nav settings menu ti import your own POI's and edit them. This then allows a speed camera db to be uploaded and a warning sound applied to the POI to provide the same functionality as that which was on older "podded" cars. Does that make sense?

Mike,
It does make sense, as do other posts, my confusion is why is the sensus system not reading the camera POIs, which must be on the discs as the podded version reads them I recall that when the XC60 first came out no-one knew that the speed cameras were there and it was someone on the old forum (shared with XC90) that found them - even dealers didn't know that they were there

Perfect sense. From MY 11.5 onwards the Speed Camera settings are no longer built in (makes sense as they are constantly changing), hence you have to import them via the "Import POI" routine. But confusion has accoured as the Senus up until factory build in early June had a software bug which did not always show the "Import POI's" menu option under settings, but this has now been sorted with the latest software upgrade as reported above.

Just to concur with what Simon has been saying. I have a MY12 V70 and there are no Speed Camera POIs included but the Import POI facility is there. Having been following this thread, I have now done the same as Simon - i.e. paid £20 for year sub to PocketGPSworld and imported the info - with same results as Simon. (And currently, similar to Simon, still trying to work out why I only get one warning - i.e. no warning if I go past again soon after!).
So thanks Simon (and Mike Alder for pointing me to this thread). Alan |

Another Tip
I use "Sound 3" option when I import the files - that one gives the "click" of a camera rather than the annoying bells & chimes from the other options.
