Hi,
Does anyone have a picture of the correct location to drill the holes on a 2009 V70 to release the water that's already been collected ? Cheers |

S80 water leak
Hi, I have just read about the water leak issue and my 2012 S80 has this issue. My drive is inclined and when the car was parked facing downhill I have had water leaking in from the top left of the screen. Since noticing I have been parking it facing uphill and this has stopped the water ingress. I see this is a common problem and wondering if it is even worth contacting the dealer. Haven't had it dealer serviced now for two years although bought it from Rybrook Volvo second hand 4 years ago!

Go straight to Volvo customer relations.
When I had my V70 fixed, it had not been to Volvo for 4 years! Good luck |

Afternoon All,
Just another experience to add to the thread, I acquired a 2008 V70 in September last year and on first weekend after purchasing (heavy rain, pointing downhill etc) ended up with 3" of water in the front foot well and sloshing in the B pillar. Dealer inspected, confirmed windscreen seal the issue but advised that they had used an electronic calculator (?) supplied by Volvo that stated no goodwill contribution and that the dealer wouldn't have carried out the work anyway and referred me to look for a local company who could carry out the repair at my cost. Not very helpful but not particularly surprising given age of vehicle (11 years, 160k miles) and it had been off dealer network since a few years old. I contacted Volvo CS directly and was immediately told they would cover the cost in full of the repair at a local repairer of my choice! No arm twisting or wrangling at all, they promptly reimbursed me by bank transfer within a few days of getting the work done locally at a windscreen shop to have screen removed and resealed. Very happy with the result and credit to Volvo centrally for being so swift and helpful in resolving, far better than I expected. So moral seems to be that Volvo direct are far more likely to assist than dealers! |

Windscreen Leak dripping at light cluster
2009 XC70 Leak is design issue, of bonding material, caused by expansion contraction with temperature. It is exacerbated by an Ice Dam formed and freezing pushing the glass away from the frame. Extreme heat conditions followed by extreme cold at a later date.

Just had the screen replaced due to a crack from stone damage. Fitter said screen was completely detached at the top edge. Bonding failure. We only had occasional drips in...
