... the seller is still looking for £4,500 (down from £4,900 last time) but it is hard to see why it would justify more than a couple of grand (although next April it will appreciate a bit when it becomes tax exempt). It is still a scruffy VWW with a rusty tailgate and suffers from having been warmed up a bit (which nearly always reduces a classic motorcar's value).

Ho hum.

PS. I can't help thinking that if the seller had spent a grand on fixing the rust instead of £2,000 on the lowering kit and Weber carburettors it might make £4,000 now.
The scruffy VWW with lowered suspension and Weber carburettors sold at £3,100. That wasn't very close to what the seller wanted, but I thought a very good price (from the seller's perspective) for what it was.

I can't help thinking the seller was a tad fortunate, and would not be surprised much if we see the VWW for sale again in a few weeks.

In the above I said:

I can't help thinking that is exactly right. If the seller had spent some cash sorting out the rust instead of adding bling he/she might have got 4 grand.

Default Amazon Prices

I'd been watching this one because it was about the same as GAM:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966-Volv...p2047675.l2557

... it sold for £6,900, which rather confirms GAM's value being around 7 grand. I think that is about right, and rather puts into perspective some of those motor cars being offered at £12,000 to £20,000 we have seen recently.

Yet this on didn’t sell! Very mysterious, it looks as good and I wasn’t keen on the evidence of filler on the £6900 motor.

Ho-hum.🤨

Yes, that is somewhat inexplicable, if anything that one sounds a little better but it didn’t attract much interest. The only real demerit seems to be a lack of provenance, but it is hard to explain why it only got to £4,250 and didn’t reach its reserve.

I’d have said that motor car was worth something like 7 grand as well, if the seller tries again it might achieve it next time.

Just a bit more than a project!

Thankfully the vendor messing about, meant I had a chance to escape, albeit a few quid down on van hire/hotel.

It's been in the same spot for years probably, as a green square has formed on the tarmac around the silhouette.

The 145 rustberg made £675.99 at auction. Maybe someone wanted it for spares (sensible) - but perhaps a very brave person is going to try restoring it (daft).

I think we have seen this VWW recently - if I recall as a classified ad with a high price (something like 10 grand?). It must have not sold because the seller is trying a different tack with a low-start auction (albeit with a reserve - maybe the same high price as previously?):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225664438...Bk9SR7b7ibaoYg

... the more things change, the more that stay the same.

Afternote: Here was the previous discussion, a classified ad at 9 grand:
