Interesting to see on the photos of the Jg that the shared heritage with Ford is visible in the bonnet shape.

Well it seems there is already problems for the First Edition F Pace...

Quote:
My OH ordered a 1st Edition Jaguar FPace last September. These cars came with a fixed specification, with no additional options allowed and all at a fixed price of around £65,000.

These cars are now arriving in the showrooms, but it appears the original specification now has at least three omissions.

Adaptive surface response £150.00, 10 way electric memory seats £450.00 and Loadspace retention kit £172.00.

These are all available as options on other models but shown as standard in the 1st Edition brochure and highlighted as standard on the configurator.

A representative from Jaguar on another forum has just said sorry and it was a mistake in the aforementioned brochure and configurator which will be rectified.

Two of the above are factory fit so cannot be added now by the dealer.

My question is can they legally misrepresent?

My thoughts are that they have a right to alter spec but inform customers and offer alternatives. I cant see how you can enter into a contract at a set price then simply remove £772.00 worth of items without informing the customer.

Turtles notwithstanding, for those who have suffered!

So I don't see this conversation in any way as negative to Volvo owners......keep it going!

Three options.
1. Cancel the order. They have not supplied the car ordered. No case to answer. Contract void.
2. Insist on a discount for the missing items and enjoy what you have.
3. Insist on a discount, take the car and immediately re-sell, probably at a small profit.
It's always a risk pre-ordering before cars even enter the showroom. Volvo did this with the XC90 '1927 edition' and it sold out within a matter of days, I believe. However, for me (and others), test drives are absolutely essential.

Totally agree. 10 months into my 'XC60 experience', I would (as of today) place the same order. (Actually, not possible, because VUK have decided active 4C suspension is no longer worth the bother of even putting on the options list.)
In the 2-litre class, the XC60 is difficult to beat for value, options and comfort. If you 'want / need' 3-litres, then of course it is a different ball-game. The new Q5 has broken cover and could be good. On current Audi pricing, it will be 'better value' than the F-Pace, which of course ties in with JLR wanting to place the 3-litre F-Pace as a competitor for the Macan. As I have commented before, JLR need a 240bhp 2-litre if they are to compete with the Q5 and X3 in the sub-£40K band.

I agree. The more I read about the alternatives (and their various drawbacks) the more I am convinced that my next car will be the new generation XC60. I just hope that the new model does not creep up in size and that it has a decent petrol engine, AWD. And I won't be buying at launch either, I guess it will need at least 12 months before all the hype and frenzy evaporates...I hate going into a purchase negotiation where the dealer is holding all the aces and doesn't need the deal! A very costly way to do business, in my experience.

Oh I am fully aware of the options to them, but it is poor form from Jag....

I have also seen the "offending black trim" on the rear doors it looks awful

Absolutely. I still recall the feeling of relief a couple of months ago, that the salesman hadn't changed his mind before my wife had time to do the thing with her debit card, followed by mild guilt. When I read about F-Paces at more than twice as much, it brings it all back.

It will be interesting to see how JLR manipulate the supply/demand situation as time goes by, they are obviously doing a fine job with it so far.

Don't kill this thread! I enjoy reading it so much! It's like a very intesting book written by many authors that evolves and provides so much insight into decision process of choosing new car.
Arianne: probably all of us cant wait to hear your comments when the time of test drive comes.
I have to admit I am completely with you when it comes to sound quality. I do remember my first experience with volvo stereo in s40 mkII. A friend of mine used to own M5 back then with top of the range audio system. To our surprise, s40 offered sound quality miles ahead of M5.
Car stereo has to have a punch and be subtle at the same time which often is very difficult to achieve.

I also think that this thread assures us - xc60 owners - that the choice we have made, given all nuissances of other cars, ticks the most boxes on our must have lists when it comes to car spec.
