No specific questions.. This is the first thread i've seen that talks about tuning the 2.0d engine and just remapping. Would be good to see the stages of tune.

There is a local business that makes rads so when I have the front bumper of to be re-sprayed I'll take the FMIC off and get them to make me a nice new one with matching mounting points but with better cooling to free up some more horses

Another interesting thing I read was some of the VW boys are taking off their EGR to improve performance.... has anyone tried this on here or on the FFOC site?

I cant see how reusing exhaust gas is in anyway good...... Afterall its only there to improve emissions. Perhaps this is also something that could be looked into?

My last post should of said "This is the first thread i've seen that talks about tuning the 2.0d engine rather than just remapping. Would be good to see the stages of tune." I couldn't find an edit button.

When i was into Land rovers a long time ago, we used to take the EGR valve off the Tdi's as it had more negatives than positives. It was a case of taking off the valve and fitting 2 blanking plates.

I'm sure I read something on one of the US sites about a guy who'd took his over 200bhp. I'll try and find a link, not that there was any useful info on there about how he'd achieved this...

Mixed opinions on removing the EGR valve on that thread.

I would like to hear a 200bhp 2.0d

remove dpf
Heico intercooler (they say adds 10bhp)
cold air intake (properly set up through a fog or 2)
custom remap
decat and free flowing exhaust modifications
run on vpower only - and have it mapped to suit (i know you could map focuses to run only on high grade petrols)
you may want to uprate hoses too

that lot should see a figure of near enough 200

but before going to this figure you should seriously look into your clutch condition as it will put much more pressure on the clutch and flywheel.

the reason i dont say "performance filter yaaaay" is it was tested by a genious on the FFOC to see if they actually added bhp and were free flowing etc
he tested original, nothing, k&n, pipercross and one or 2 more - he found that the best bhp increase was 0.5bhp. so they are cra* basically

Thing is, we all want a little more power but 178hp @ 4165rpm is enough for a 2.0D I would say.

If you are looking for more, I would say get a D5 or something, surely you can only spend or do so much... Just my thoughts, everyone has right to their own opinion.

That HEICO intercooler is that the same one from PFV that fits the T5?

If so then, does the T5 and 2.0D and all other engines share the same FMIC mounting points?

Is the pipe work the same or needs to be tweeked to fit?

Is there any others that have added this application to a 2.0D or does HEICO do a 2.0D FMIC that I've some how missed from their website?

Very interested to hear more
