Hi Mitch,
What make / model of spray gun do you use? I'm just embarking on life with a decent compressor and will do a bit of painting as I have floor panels to replace and then paint. Thanks, Mike (Addict Mike )

I have four: a Devilbiss GPI, Devilbiss FLG5 and a ANI R150 mini gun. I also have a gun for spray filler but can’t remember the brand. The GPI and FLG5 are both good quality universal guns so you could buy either and get a couple or tip/needle combos depending on what you are spraying. The GPI is made in the U.K. and is better quality in the way it’s made but very little difference in how they spray. The GPI is pretty much the old GTI but you only get it in silver. The Mini gun I used to paint inside the car, lovely wee gun. Any of those three guns or all are great for us DIY type guys. I use to have cheap guns but struggled to get decent results. A good gun is easier to get good results especially if you’re not a pro painter.

When choosing tip sizes, don’t go for a bigger tip than specified by the paint manufacturer if you can, smaller is better than bigger. A smaller nozzle with atomise the paint better and give you a flatter finish with less orange peel. It’s better to crank up the pressure a bit than go up a tip size if wanting a flatter finish.

Got the engine bay top coat on, very pleased. Kept the original pressing creases etc but paint in nice and flat. So not over restored and hopefully similar to how it came from the factory was the plan.
and someone wanting to go home for dinner.

The paint is quality, lays down nice and flat. It took a good few nights sanding, couple of hours masking and then 1/2hr to paint. The rotisserie makes it easier as well.

Dusty work. Hope to have the outside in epoxy primer next week and then it’s into reassembling.

Almost finished the first pass removing the old paint. Slow going on the fiddly sections. Will finish the roughing out and then give the workshop a good clean before moving onto going over it with the DA and by hand on the fiddly sections. Primer next weekend hopefully now.
