Yes, money is tight to everyone even those that supply parts in the motor trade to the car manufacturers. It seems to me the company that you worked for were cutting costs by selling ordinary plugs dressed up as Volvo Plugs to get more dosh!......my best mates have there own garages so i do know what can go on!! No wonder on this forum we have so many members with plug problems[/QUOTE I worked for a world leader in the field not a back street garage , sole reason volvo left was cost ,which is why more and more volvo parts are sourced in asia |

Pretty sure when I serviced mine a few weeks back with genuine volvo parts they all had 'made in Germany' printed on the box.
Can't be sure on spark plugs but the cabin and air filter certainly did. I am aware though that parts on our newer C30 and S40 have parts made in India. I was shocked when I saw that and it made me glad I own a pre Ford volvo that seems to use decent German parts still. I read an article a while back saying that volvo are to start producing all their cars for the European market in China?! If that's the case then bye bye volvo! |

The thing is Tupper you may work for an excellent company.....all what you say about products made here and products made there bears no resemblance at all to this thread!
The basic fact is UNLESS you have had a running problem with an older Volvo which WAS a Volvo, i am not talking these late Meccano made motors which are all from the same mould, then and only then will you understand this thread. Most of our motors on this forum are over 10yrs old mine is 16yrs old and 90% of running problems with ignition on a turbo are plugs, not wires or coils but plugs and when the owner replaces them with the ones with VOLVO written on them then it solves the problem......there is simply no argument. You are new here and immediately knock what others have found out the hard way with there motors not running properly, it must be off putting when a newbie just comes along and instead of reading about owners problems just spouts off crap. So please just do a lot of reading on here before you do your next episode. I always say each to there own what they use as the wallet dictates but the product that solves the problem is cheaper than the other markets products and what is more it WORKS.... |

Just because someone is new to a forum does not mean that they do not know a thing or two about cars.
Also, having owned 3 different s/v40s in my time with various turbo/ non turbo engines, I can say I disagree with you (though I do not claim to be an expert of any sorts). If it makes you happy to pay twice as much for a set of bosch plugs and to pretend that they are special Volvo ones...well thats you prerogative. I can understand that there is a peace of mind from buying from a dealership. I do agree though, use what works. Volvo clearly use good plugs, they work and it fixes a problem.

Why would you want to buy non genuine plugs??? Volvo ones are half the price and I'm sure they spent a £ or two to research before they built a car Lol!!!
