Mines a 2007 2.4d auto and driven easily gets 39-42 which is not bad for a car this size. Don't think the 6 speed auto offers much car spends the first few seconds changing gear upwards but it might be useful if you've a very heavy load on. Should expect 45 from a manual??

Default From 850 to 2007 v70

I used to have a 96 850 auto 2.5d - typically 42 mpg on motorway if kept under 80; more like 38 when flooring it on same run.

So just bought an old shape 2007 2.4d geartronic (147000!), disappointed to find that consumption is about the same (41.5) when kept under 80, possibly worse than the 850 (lower 30's) when going for it. Although above thread perhaps explains why. Apart from this extremely happy with new beast - very smooth, powerful and certainly doesn't feel like its gone round the block 1 and a half times.

What impact did remapping have@ - I guess mainly power increase rather than MPG?

Thats quite reasonable Mpg for the later generation 163 bhp , once you get used to it and dont use the power so often you will find it improves . If you wanted better economy the pre 2005 model D5 is better .

MY 10 2.0D SE - Just over 6k miles now and have averaged 46.2 mpg - calculated from the fuel used/miles travelled. Have found the computer is a bit optimistic, I always measure full to full and have seen the computer up to 3 mpg out per tankful. Just recorded my first 50 mpg tankful - very pleased.

The only feature that could improve the car for me would be to have Powershift gear box - anyone know why it isn't an option on the V70?

I have a 2010 V70 manual, in town driving conditions it regularly gets 35mpg.

Default Remapping

Apart from power improvement, remapping companies claim MPG improvement - any experiences?

some of these figures are wiered
I got rid of my 2009 r design D because of many faults
But fuel economy was not one of them
I could easily hit over 50mpg (according to car computer) once i had 10K on the clock

Took the car to south of Spain sitting on cruise at around 80 mph for hours n hours I ****ed 55mpg

Towing a caravan around 1350kg it dropped to 25

town driving mixed in UK was 35 - 45 MPG

And im not a sunday driver either, id consider myself very heavy footed

Over the last 1000miles which was Plymouth to Wycombe - through peak time London - then to Dover - then Calais to Mons and Mons to Zurich - she managed 35mpg - cruising from 75-90mph.

The car was quite loaded - but still not great on the economy. I must stop using my right foot.

I will try a couple of eco-runs back in Switzerland and let you know the results.

i found 60 was excellent but over 80mph then it became thirsty

then going from 80 to above 100 it realy drank but boy the car didnt flutter a muscle it ran so easily

As you can tell driving below 60 in that car was extremely difficult lol
