Interesting, already had this cleaned once...got a compressor so I might give them a blast like the dealer did.

Replaced my rear wiper today, still no water!

Stripped the tailgate, pulled the hose and found the non return ball valve stuck solid with white gunk!

I’m wondering if the only solution is to use NO screenwash what so ever. Surely you won’t be able to have this white gunk / residue with just water?

Or could it be something to do with the hardness/softness of the water reacting with the screen wash?

My personal feeling is that there is a coating applied to the hoses to preserve them whilst in stock. When water is added it gunks up..

My thoughts too, its very unlikely to be the screenwash. I have not had this problem.

Hi, this is just my second post here, I’m new to the forum and to Volvo. I’d previously read this thread with interest but not experienced the dreaded white residue......until I saw it dotted up the drivers side A pillar on my 4 month old XC60 yesterday 😧 I have the heated Aquablades as I have the Winter Pack.

I’ve never topped up so what’s in the washer bottle must’ve been added by my dealer, and I guess what they use would be the Volvo branded stuff.

So far I’ve not experienced any drop off in performance of screen washing but, from what I’ve read in this thread, it can only be a matter of time.

On mine anything above 30mph and the wind just prevents the water reaching the bottom quarter of the screen. I'm thinking of asking Volvo if they can retro fit standard washer jets

roundyuk this is exactly what I had see #9 on this thread. Ran about 2 pints of water through disconnected pipe and it was like Lux flakes. Had no problem since I cleaned it. Noticed I have a couple of jets blocked now In front blades so will have to sort that out soon.
Mention to mechanic at first service in December and said they hadn’t heard of it. Made sure it was written down on my. Service form in case I have future problems.

Derekw64 - I had the same problem which the dealer solved by cleaning out the wipers and hoses etc of the ‘white gunk’. I’m hopeful that that the problem won’t resurface but only time will tell.
