Merry Hill is obviously a very big place and just to say "meet at Merry Hill" is not specific enough, otherwise we would have Volvo's on various car parks and still not meet up with each other. See what I mean?

I think you may have misread the posting, no problem

I will wait for the organiser of this to let us know the finer details in the near future.
Thanks to all !
see below it's all here hth

i might well be up for this as i could well be visiting in dudly that weekend

FOGGYJAMES if you still have that polybush we spoke about at the Ace i'll have it off you then, if not no worrys

On a different topic:
Which part of the car park shall we meet?

If you type 'merry hill shopping centre dudley' in to Google maps then overlay the satellite view, zoom in on the pointer. You will see a crossroad, turn left up 'The Boulevard' that is the first part of the complex.

At the 1st roundabout take the 3rd exit there is an isolated area, not sure if that is part of the complex or offices, it could be a suitable meeting point. If you take the 2nd exit a service road goes around the back of the complex go on up past the 1st car park area along the 'S' bend you come to a long straight section, on the left is a single line of parking spaces, that could be a good place. You will notice the parking is thin in comparison to other areas when this photo was taken

Have a look all around the complex, there are many parking areas. I know that the areas accessed from Central Way farthest from the complex do get full on busy days, so wherever we meet we may get some foreign car mixed in

It may be possible to organise some spaces with the parking authorities. In any case a definite area needs to be established, also a reference point in or immediately outside the complex to find people that cannot find the appointed parking area, and some mobile phone numbers, mine will be available on the day. With regards to a location, I would not start using service roads as they are a bit touchy about those sort of things! Using Greg's point of reference I would make two suggestions. First, from the island take the 4th exit (rather than the 3rd) this will take you into a parking section with a curve of bays looking out to The Boulevard - this is where MFI used to be, so should be quiet once the Christmas rush is over.
Second, would be to turn left into Station Drive then into the first set of parking bays in front of the blue roofed building - this is where "Powerhouse" used to be (now closed) so also would be quieter.

The Powerhouse bays would probably be best for dining, depending on peoples tastes there is a Pizza hut, Frankie and Bennys (American Italian), and McDonalds. Also a KFC at the other end of Station Drive. There are further restaurants etc in the main complex, but would be unlikely to find a group of parking bays together in the main complex section. For those who are unaware the top section is where all the large electrical shops are (Empire, Currys, Comet, PC World) and also Mothercare World, and a few others. So we could always play "How many 42" plasmas can you fit in an 850!!"

The organiser

What the hell is one of those ??????????????? I think organiser is putting a too strong a term on someone, or is it some people I'm not sure, but I don't think anyone is organising anything (cannot stop LMAO). There have been suggestions and ideas. Even I have suggested forming a 'small coordination group', (saturnuranus please read PM sent Dec 26)

but an organiser

I'm sure I can bring one along for you. Do you want the new-in-box one, or the ones which is already on a bracket? It's not like they wear out...

cheers

James

Pardon my seemingly newbie question, but is the meet on the 25th a one off, or the first of many this year for the Midlands area?
Unfortunately I can't make it this time due to having to work, but hopefully will be free to make any/some of the others, if there are any more.

We are a loose band of owners. Although the 25th has been arranged for this month there is no fixture organised after then. This not to say there will not be another, just we have not done anything about a future meet

Good News: 1/2 price food vouchers have been obtained

They can be used at either of the Pizza Hut restaurants at Merry Hill.
It took some time to find any offers off restaurant food at Merry Hill, so if the Pizza Hut is acceptable to all can we decide which one and I will print of the vouchers

We can go to either :
68 Merry Hill Centre
216 Boulevard Merry Hill Centre

I don't know the layout of Merry Hill to know which one is most suitable I will go along with the majority
