I modified the chip i purchased by taking a touch of fuel out the top end. Works great now and will be selling on the reader when i get a moment to list it.

Just for fun, some Bentley, Ferrari and other "prestige" makes also use the same CPS as many 7/9xx models.
Prices for those are ridiculous from dealers but aftermarket ones are on fleabay for ~£20 and even Volvo aren't horrendous - sub £100 last time i checked. Kia have one at ~£50 so it all boils down to paying for the packaging/badge on the item. Another case in point, screen wash pump on my Jag - from Jaguar ~£96, Volvo (as fitted to some S80 models) ~£48, Ford (Sierra, Mondeo, transit and several other models) ~£24, ebay £8. All the same part!

Due to it being too wet for gardening or diy and having spent two days spannering, chasing an oil leak on 'er indoors Mini, I have just added up the cost of repair panels to restore the rusty bodywork and chassis on the 'cheap' Bentleys that have been showcased on the thread. Oh what we do when bored
All the Rolls/Bentleys at the price point discussed will be in need of body restoration. The repair panels alone are £11,500 inc VAT. That is front wing repair sections, inner and outer sills, inner and outer rear wings, boot floor repair sections, rear chassis sections and body mounts. Interestingly they all rust in exactly the same places, so it is very easy to determine what is needed before embarking on the work. Regarding the price of the Ferrari bolts: when I was restoring the Bentley 45 years ago, I ordered two bolts that fitted in the front suspension pivot point. It was a pretty standard 1/4 inch by 6inch bolt, BSF thread with a drilled hole for a split pin in a castellated nut and a square head on the other end. It wasn't a technical spec as all it did was hold an aluminium cover over the centralised chassis lubrication pipework. £11.50 each! If I had known the cost at the time I would have been more careful in salvaging the original bolts. It still rankles today, as that was a lot of money for what they were back then.

Now look here chaps, I’ve been trying to ignore that one for a while now, although I’m pretty sure it was £1500 last time.
If I didn’t have so much going on at the moment, and a lack of storage space, then I would probably have already tried to buy it as a potential parts donor. Now then, a rather intriguing 740 coming up at ACA in April.
https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/clas...ne-owner Very clean MOT history with no corrosion mentioned in advisories, only downside it seems the previous owner had a rather narrow gateway/garage as both rear arches dented and headlining has disappeared. No reserve……… Cheers Steve |
