Well, props to the guy for finishing what was probably his vision of the ultimate 240. It would stand out on the showground.
I doubt he had any intention of selling the car until his health problems showed up.
I think to a greater or lesser extent we all try to build our own dream car version. However, we all tend to have different dreams.

You are probably right, the seller probably had every intention of keeping his perfect motor car - until the medical issues started. I wish the seller well of course, but the chances of finding a buyer happy to shell out 17 grand on another person’s vision may be small.

Oh that is lovely!!! if i had an empty garage and £6000 i'd be very very interested. My earliest Volvo memory is of one of these, same colour, same year, owned by the neighbouring farmers wife (actually she was a dressage instructor so a bit posher than a farmers wife!)..

A few hours with T-Cut or similar, a polish then a sealer would soon see that back to brighter blue!

… perhaps it is just me, but I quite like the motor car. It is a DL model, so wind-up windows, no sunroof, plain paint, steel wheels and cloth seats - but it looks solid, is tax exempt and the seller is asking quite a sensible price for an historic vehicle. If I was in the market for a 240 at the moment I’d probably buy it. The gearbox is probably a 3 speeder and it has the 2.1 motor, so progress might be fairly sedate - but there isn’t much to go wrong. It would be best left exactly as it is (well, maybe electronic points - I’m not sure I could be bothered to fiddle around).
