I surrendered to mine today. Can't sort this limp mode. - I've tried everything I can think of, logging codes, replacing countless parts with brand new parts, checked hoses for leaks, compression, fuel compression, checking loom under radiator, no codes or lights thrown up.

Booking mine into Volvo for all next week

Had Matts DICE unit hooked upto a laptop this morning, went into limp mode 3 times going to work, no codes found, even reading whilst it was still in limp mode. Other than my self levelling on the xenons being faulty, it was all clear.

Getting ridiculous now.

Gonna cost around £100-200 for them to have it for the week, as once they've tried a few ideas, they're going to be driving it about most the time trying to fault find I expect.

Whatever the problem is, it's getting worse and it's sure not making it easy to troubleshoot!

half way through cutting them up to fit with 1mm thick metal cutting disc, slipped and buried the disc into left index finger.

It has to be a faulty ECU Alex, or a bad connection

If it's the ECU I think I'm done and will be selling it.

Or do what I did. Get a complete lockset and replace the lot. It might be a bit time consuming, but if it solves your problem, then you might get lucky. Is there any chance you can borrow an ECU, immobiliser module and key from another T4 and try it out. You only need these 3 things to test my theory. Would Ashok have one by any chance?

So do you land on the clutch pedal when you're leg first, half in the car
at the same time as key in flicking it into gear ignition on and then taking off.

Unless of course you drive on the wrong side of the road.
We drive on the left (correct) side of the road.

When I get into the car, I put my left foot on the foot rest, right foot in and close the door.
Then I check it is neutral, before starting the car.
Once all the warning lights go off in the cluster, I check my mirrors, put on my seatbelt, select first (this is when I press the clutch pedal for the first time) gear, before letting off the handbrake and moving off, indicating if necessary.

I don't smoke, so no fag lighting with a beer!

Looks good, Kieran.

Is it stuck to the outside of the rear window?

I have seen ones before that fitted over the entire brake light, but on the inside, against the actual housing itself.

Don't be so rash, Alex.

If you were willing to spend shed loads on an engine upgrade and rebuild, this is just a drop in the ocean, in comparison.

Like Gatos says, try a borrowed ECU first and if that solves the problem, get a new ECU fitted and forget about the engine upgrade. For the time being, anyway.

You know I'm right, mate.

Hasty decisions usually come back and bite you on the ass.

After about a week without it, you would be wishing you had never sold it.

Also, a couple of hundred quid for a week at Volvo is a bargain!

That's about 2 hours worth for a mere mortal, going to the dealer.

Is that a magic tree sitting on your rear shelf?

They can bleach the cloth, if you are not careful!

Best to stick it in the springs under your seat, so you get the 'New Car Scent' but don't see the tree. ;-)
