Cheers steven I'v already tested t height of the bonnet to bar. I rolled up some Blutack cones which I stuck to the main bar & closed the bonnet, this squashed the top of the blutack down giving me the height.
Just out of interest what is the height & width of your oval bar? I chose 30 x 15mm oval tube with a 2mm wall.

Sorry for the late reply....just measured my Ultra Racing brace and it looks the same as what you're using: 30mm x 15mm oval

Cheers for the reply, that was a pretty good guess on my part as I only estimated it from looking at pictures & finding a supplier online with the closest size. Good to know it'll be strong enough then.

So I finally got it finished & test fitted to the car. I ended up bending the bar by hand in the vice around a round bar, but I filled it with sand first to try & stop it compressing on itself which worked well. I disconnected the battery before tack welding it in position on the strut bases then welded the rest in the workshop. I've taken it off now to paint (black) before I install it permanently but here's a couple of pics.

This last one shows the brace touching the plastic around the chassis number plate but it sits proud anyway & I'm going to drill a hole & plastic rivet it down out of the way.

Awesome mate

I reckon you're ready to go into production....seriously - you'll have no problem selling these.

Thanks Steve.

That would nice but there is a lot of work to get it to this stage. I know it's a prototype for my use only & there was a lot of fettling but it would be quite a few hours of work for each one. I would have to make an accurate jig & some templates if I were to make any more. Plus I don't know how much interest there is out there for them?

I reckon if you could produce 20 of these and price them at £70-80 delivered - you'd sell them all....

Cheers for the vote of confidence.

I've put an add in the For Sale Section to gauge interest for them, so I'll wait & see what responses I get.

Might have to start making that jig now

I'll spread the word mate.....

You'll need to work out a price though....even a ball park figure, to get people interested.

I've made the jig for the Strut Brace & have got the templates ready for the rear brace I've designed too, which I should be welding up over the next few days.
