I'm sure it will look well in their show room
glad i just picked mine up when i did then. i think these cars are going to go up in value just like the 240 did. maybe people are really starting to see the true value of them!

it's quite a coincidence actually, the one i just purchased is VERY similar to yours, its a 1988 740 2.0 manual with blue velour interior and in white! oh and it's also a "GL"

i'm sure whoever the new owner is will enjoy it very much

Cheers, Matt

I'll be watching Retro Rides sales section to see what they market it for. Lets hope whoever the new owner is appreciates what they have.

Default 744s.

Always good to hear enthusiasm for the much underrated and unappreciated 700series, here's a pic of one of mine; 1986 on a C plate 744GL, one owner before me and only 62k from new.

No doubt KGF underbid for the OPs car, and we'll no doubt see it soon on the Cars and Classic website at a premium - watch out for KGFs overlong, and often inaccurate descriptions!

the 700 series has always been my personal favorite, however i tend to go for turbos and as such they seem very rare in the uk. and trying to find a manual turbo, thats not fun!

but the pre facelift 700 shape can't be beaten in my oppinion it is the most iconic "brick" volvo in my eyes!

I didn't know white was such a popular color too, lol!

You don't need to convince me, we've had one in the family for nearly 30 years, plus I've been trying to promote the 700 on here and in the club for some time.

yes, i was just saying that the 700 series always seems to have been generally much less popular here, than the rest of europe and america, here the 900 series seems to be the most popular/iconic volvo (only talking RWD)

I'm also a fan of saloons, i know they dont have the same sort of utility, but i think they look great.

Is that a Granada saloon sitting behind the 740, Jon?

A Rover 800 saloon, sadly long gone.

If you go on KGF twitter page you'll see a side by side photo of my fathers 740 and a 164E.
